No: 2006-03S, Revised January 19, 2006

Date: 01/19/06

Models / Parts Affected: VDSC 30, 36, & 48 Dual Fuel / PJ030031 Thermostat
Wiring Change

Reference: Service Bulletin 2005 03S Dated March 01, 2005

Purpose: Wiring Change on Assembly Line using the PJ030031 6 terminal thermostat.
Current production Wiring Diagrams show earlier 4 terminal thermostats PJ030003 or
PJ030012. This bulletin is to inform & to help the technician correctly attach wiring to a
6 terminal thermostat when the wiring diagram illustrates the 4 terminal thermostat.
Future production will have an updated wiring diagram, See Figure 3, page 2.

Instructions / Information: Terminals 3 & 4 are now being used on the PJ030031. A
factory installed jumper is in the wiring harness to jumper thermostat terminals 2 & 3.
The Y yellow, L1 lead from the High Limit has been moved from terminal 2 to
terminal 4. (See Operational Diagram, Page 2 of this document)

Operational Explanation

L1 from the High Limit is now attached to terminal 4 (previously terminal 2). When the
thermostat knob is rotated from OFF to any set temperature, contacts 3 to 4 and 1 to 2
closes. L1 from the High Limit passes through contacts 4 to 3, the Jumper Wire, and
contacts 2 to 1. Contacts 1 to 2 are the temperature control contacts that cycle the oven
cycling relay, which maintains set temperature.

When the thermostat knob is rotated to CLEAN, contacts 5 to 6 close to energize Self
Clean. Additionally, 1 to 2 and 3 to 4 are closed when turned to CLEAN.
