Small Simplified Site Plan plans are projects that consist of less than one acre of land disturbance and less than 1,000 square
feet of building area, and when a revised Stormwater Impact Analysis is not required per Stormwater Services.

IMPORTANT:
1.
Only complete submittals will be accepted (i.e. required information including current Development Review
Application, specimen tree survey, land disturbance tree survey, tree coverage calculations, 2 copies of: landscape/
buffer worksheets or Interactive Buffer Model with buffer slope analysis, drainage area maps, correct number of
stapled, folded copies of plan showing all required information, including sidewalks, landscape and stream buffers,
description of revisions if an amendment to previously approved plan, list of committed elements from rezoning
development plan, special documentation and applications for variations or payment-in-lieu, check for review fee
payable to City of Durham in the correct amount). Incomplete submittals will be returned to the applicants. (See
Important Development Review Submittal Information.)

Provide a sealed letter from a registered Professional Engineer or Landscape Architect certifying that the change does
not require a revised stormwater impact analysis. If the project requires a revised stormwater impact analysis, do not
use this application and checklist, but refer to the standard site plan application, Development Review Site Plan and
Preliminary Plat Fees Schedule, Checklist and Standard Notes
.

Submittals are due by 11:00 am on the submittal deadline, but may be made any day before then. Submittals
received after this time will be returned to the applicants or held until the next submittal deadline.
Refer to the attached City of Durham Stormwater checklist and Durham County Stormwater and Erosion Control
checklists, which must be filled out, signed and sealed by consultant, and included with all submittals. All required
maps must be attached for the application to be considered complete. (Please also refer to the Citys Public Works
Reference Guide for Development. Details and/or information, in addition to that specified, may be required.)

Additional or fewer copies may be needed for some submittals (such as for amendments to existing projects with
zoning development plans). Please verify the number of plans needed with the Development Review Team prior to

The preferred sheet size is 24 x 36 (36 x 48 maximum); all sheets should be numbered; should be the same size and
scale; and should show match lines, along with an index sheet or key. All submittals must be folded a convenient size
(10" x 14" maximum dimension)
ALL A2. Engineers scale no smaller than 1 = 200 (1 = 100 preferred). Larger scale showing more detail may be required.
Include both a graphic scale and a numeric scale on each sheet.

A3. North arrow coordinated with any bearings shown on the plat (labeled as either true, magnetic with date, North
Carolina grid (NAD83 or NAD 27 or is referenced to old deed or plat bearings)). If north is magnetic or from an
old deed or plat, indicate date and source (if known) of original index.

A4. Title block (preferred location is right edge or bottom right corner) to include the following:
Name of proposed development on cover sheet and in title block on each sheet. Name must be approved and shall not
duplicate any names currently in use except to amend existing development (UDO Sec. 13.3). If project name has
changed, that should be indicated by labeling (Formerly _____________) in the title block.
Submittal labeled Small Simplified Site Plan. If project is also a preliminary plat, use the appropriate checklist
instead of this one.
Date (original and all revisions) should be shown on all s</b>heets.
Name, address, and telephone number of the Landscape Architect, Engineer, Surveyor, or Architect (with seal,
signature and date). Fax number and e-mail address may also be included.

A5. Provide a sealed letter from a registered Professional Engineer or Landscape Architect that explains the change, if any,
to the impervious surface for the site, including the existing impervious surface and what is proposed (matching the
proposed plan). Attach a copy of the applicable Stormwater checklist and copies of the required maps with the site
identified on them.

B2. Vicinity map with sufficient detail and legibility to locate the project in reference to nearby roads and recognizable
landmarks. Vicinity map shall have its own north arrow if oriented differently than site plan or plat. If project is part of
a larger one, provide an overall map of the project showing the location of the current site being proposed for
development.

B3. Space blocked out and labeled for listing Special Conditions of Approval. This box should contain all the special
conditions unique to the site. The required location is above the approval box, and adjacent to the title block on the
cover sheet. Do not include General Conditions of Approval or Public Works Conditions of Approval in this box.

B4. Public Works Conditions of Approval Box should contain all the standard notes required by Public Works and should
be listed in a separate box from any conditions that are truly unique to the site. It should be located on the top sheet of
the plan set.

B5. Space blocked out and labeled for listing General Conditions of Approval. This box should contain all standard notes
and be located on the cover sheet. Do not include special conditions or Public Works Conditions of Approval notes in
this box.

B6. For amendments to Zoning Ordinance cases, add a bold note above the approval box stating This project was
submitted under the regulations in the Durham Zoning Ordinance, due to the date of prior approvals, with the exception
that it complies with the environmental protection requirements of Section 8, Section 3.8, 12.10, and 15.5 of the Unified
Development Ordinance.
