Working with Your Web Page

1. To add a link to another web site you must be in the editing mode (refer to the
previous handout, Editing Text). Highlight the text you want to become link.
Then click on the Insert Link which looks like this:

2. A new box will pop up. You will need to fill in three items in this box. Note:
You should have a 2
nd
browser window running so you can go to the web site you
are going to link to---you will need to copy and paste the full address of this site
when making your link. You will avoid mistakes if you copy and paste rather
than trying to type the URL of the website.
This box will appear when you are ready to
add a link to a web site.
1. Link URL: Copy and paste the whole address from the website you want to
connect to on to this line.
2. Target: Click on the down arrow and select Open in new window.
3. Title: Put a simple title of the site you are connecting to here.
Click on Insert when you are ready to go.
This is what a page with several links to
websites looks like. A link will always be
underlined and maroon by default.

If you want your link to be another color,
you should change the format of the text
before you make it a link.
