Preparation
Surfaces must be dry and clean of dust and foreign
materials such as oil, grease and dirt. Thoroughly
brush or vacuum surface to insure that loose dust
and dirt are removed. Concrete floors must be fully
cured (28 days) and free from hydrostatic pressure.
When using over plywood, a
19
/
32
" exterior grade
plywood substrate should be installed with
1
/
4
"
(6 mm) gaps between sheets, over
19
/
32
" plywood
or 1" (25 mm) nominal board with joist spacing 16"
(406
mm) o.c. maximum. The gap between the
plywood underlayment will be filled with ProSpec
B-150 as it is applied to set tile.
ProSpec B-150 will not perform on surfaces below
60° F (16° C). The ideal surface temperature is
60° F (16° C) to 75° F (24° C). The colder ProSpec
B-150 is, the thicker it gets and the longer it takes to
cure.
Surfaces to receive tile shall be plumb and true.
Maximum variations from the required plane shall
be: horizontal -
1
/
4
" (6 mm) in 10' (3 m).
Expansion joints shall be located (refer to the
TCA Handbook for Ceramic Tile Installation)
Where tile work abuts restraining surfaces, such
as perimeter walls, curbs, columns, pipes and the
like.
Directly over joints in structural floor and over
construction or cold joints.
Directly over expansion or control joints.

Where specified in the architectural drawing.

Mixing
ProSpec
®
B-150 Epoxy Adhesive is packaged in
accurately weighted proportions which allows for
proper curing. Mix only full complete units.
Add Part B into Part A container.
1.
Mix thoroughly for five minutes being careful
2. to scrape and mix the epoxy from the side and
bottom of can.
Mix either by hand or with a slow speed
3. mechanical mixer (approximately 150 r.p.m.) to
assure excessive heat is not generated or air
bubble entrapment.
Once mixed it is best to get the epoxy out of the
4. mixing container as soon as possible. This will
reduce the heat being generated and the more
heat being generated the faster it will cure.
The recommended working temperature of ProSpec
B-150 is between 70° F (21° C) to 80° F (27° C). At
higher temperatures the working time is reduced,
at lower temperatures this is reversed. Application
of ProSpec B-150 should not begin until the
temperature of the substrate is above 60° F (16° C).
A temperature of 60° F (16° C) or higher must be
maintained during the curing period.
NOTE: Surface temperature can vary from room temperature and
should be determined with a surface thermometer.
NOTE: It is the responsibility of the installer/applicator to ensure
the suitability of the product for its intended use. B-150 EPOXY ADHESIVE

All installations must conform to the current
specifications in ANSI A108.6.
Select the proper trowel size:
1.
The proper trowel size is one that will insure a
minimum of
3
/
32
" (2 mm) layer of epoxy between
the tile and substrate after the tile has been
set. The proper trowel should also result in
a minimum 80% coverage, 100% when used
exterior or when setting stone.
With pressure, apply a skim coat to the substrate
2. with the flat edge of the trowel.
Follow up with a heavier coat so the finished
3. setting bed will be
3
/
32
" (2 mm) after the proper
setting.
Comb with the recommended notched trowel.
4. Comb only that part of the bed that can have tile
put on it before skinning occurs.
For deep lugged tile, or exterior installations,
5. back buttering may be required to insure 100%
coverage. Beat tile into place within 10 minutes
of combing. The more the tile is beaten the
greater the bond. The coverage requirements
are as follows: 80% of the back must contact
Epoxy; exterior - 100%. This is best achieved by
back buttering the tile.
Adjusting time varies depending on temperature.
Therefore, adjust the tile early. Once the initial
set occurs, the tile cannot be moved without
permanently destroying the bond.
