Power Terminal module IC220PWR001 supplies
24V power to the main circuit. In addition, this
module can be used to supply 24V power for a
segment circuit.
Module with Power Terminal Strip plugged in
Module IC220PWR001 requires one (1) Power
Terminal Strip, IC220TBK087, ordered separately.
See the ordering information below.

Assignment
1.1, 2.1
Supply point for the segment circuit US
(+24V); connection of a switch or a jumper in
the segmentation level
1.2, 2.2
Supply point for the main circuit UM (+24V);
connection of a switch or a jumper in the
segmentation level
These terminal points are connected with
each other and with the voltage jumper of the
unprotected main supply UM .
The combined current-carrying capacity of
the voltage jumpers of the unprotected main
circuit UM and the segment circuit US is 8A.
1.3, 2.3
Ground contact (GND)
The reference potential is connected to the
voltage jumper and, at the same time, is
ground reference for the I/O and segment
voltage.
1.4, 2.4
FE connection
The contacts are directly connected with the
voltage jumper and the FE spring on the
bottom of the housing. The module is
grounded when the module is snapped onto a
grounded DIN rail.
Terminal points 1.1, 1.2, and 1.3 are
capacitively connected with FE.

Connection Example
Protect the 24V supply with an external fuse.
The example shows typical connection of the
supply voltage and an external switch.
The switch can be used to set up a switched
segment circuit. If this is not needed for your
application, you can provide the segment
voltage in the following ways:
1. Jumper connections 1.1 (2.1) and 1.2 (2.2).
2. Supply the segment voltage separately.
3.
Use an additional segment terminal.

Overload/short circuit in segment circuit
No
Surge voltage
Yes;
Suppressor diode for voltage limitation between terminal
points 1.1 and 1.3 and terminal points 1.2 and 1.3
Polarity reversal
Yes; diode connected in parallel as protection against polarity
reversal (UM ).
The power supply unit must be able to supply 4 times (400%)
the nominal current of the external fuse.
Electrical Isolation
To provide electrical isolation between the logic level and the I/O area, it is necessary to supply these areas from
the Network Interface Unit (NIU) module, or from both the NIU and a Power Terminal module using separate
power supplies. Interconnection of power supply units in the 24VDC range is not allowed. (For detailed
information, refer to the User Manual.)
Common Potentials
24VDC main power, 24VDC segment voltage, and GND have the same potential.
FE (functional earth ground) is a separate potential area.
