eived. Matching perfectly with the new Chapter Preface+ (also show at CES), the Chapter Couplet sets
new standards for control and precision in High-End audio. The new Zero Ripple PSU allows the Chapter
WMT amplifier technology to provide unrivalled bass punch & weight whilst maintaining the tremendously
open and natural mid-range and HF performance we have all come to expect from a Chapter product. This
reinforces our long held belief that due to poor design or implementation, many competitors amplifiers
require much higher power ratings to provide the same Big Amplifier sound. It is often necessary play these
products at a level 6dB higher than the Chapter amplifier to obtain the same level of bass punch & weight.
This allows the Chapter Couplet to maintain a continuous 215W into 8Ohms (430W into 4Ohms), whilst
providing the listener with the experience of nearly double that power level. The Chapter Couplet will drive
the most demanding of loudspeaker loads (Providing up to 20A continuous output current [with peaks of up
to 60A] into a 1Ohm impedance).
The Chapter Couplet also features a unique range of system earthing options. (Balanced GND, Balanced
FLOAT, Unbalanced GND, Unbalanced FLOAT) These options allow the listener to best match the Couplet
earthing topology to the rest of his system. In balanced mode, the listener can choose to either connect the
system 0v to Chassis Earth, or Float the 0v from the Chassis Earth via a 100W impedance. In unbalanced
mode, the listener can choose to either treat his RCA input as a balanced signal, allowing rejection of any
inter-channel ground loop distortion, or as a true single ended signal.
These four options ensure that whatever type of source equipment is used, the listener will be able to get the
very best performance from the Couplet.
Couplet: Meaning two items of the same type to denote the dual mono construction of our new two channel
power amplifier.
The Chapter Couplet features an extended version of the technology used in the Précis integrated amplifier.

The Chapter Couplet features the new Chapter Zero Ripple high frequency power supply. This ground
breaking technology uses four synchronous magnetic switching output stages, utilising multiphase spread
spectrum techniques, that give an effective switching frequency of 800Khz (4x Fsw) and lower noise than
any Linear PSU. That coupled with the benefits of high regulation loop bandwidth and 300,000uF of output
capacitance (providing effective output storage of 550Joules of energy; if released in one hit, this could
relocate a small house!!!). This storage is necessary for providing zero power supply ripple at low frequency
and is essential for sustained deep and controlled bass which the Couplet provides in abundance.
