MOUNTING INSTRUCTIONS
Note: The Battery Backup Unit is designed for use with the Total Access
612, 616, 624, 750 and 850 units.
Unpack the Backup system and inspect for damage. If damage is apparent,
refer to your carrier or supplier for remedy.
Note: It is not necessary to remove the batteries during installation
process.
Caution: Fully loaded Battery box weighs 30 lbs.
Determine which installation arrangement will be used for the application: Single battery pack, wall mount (standard) Single battery pack, rack mounted. Double battery packs arranged back-to-back and rack mounted.
Wall Mount Installation - The battery pack installs on heavy plywood
(3/4 inch minimum) using four #8 x 3/4 inch pan-head wood screws. Install as
follows: Mark where the pilot holes are to be drilled according to the Mounting
Dimensions figure. Drill all four pilot holes using a 1/16-inch bit. Screw in the top two pan-head screws that fit the keyhole openings. Let the
head of the screw protrude 0.07 inch from the plywood (about the thickness of
a nickel) to engage the keyhole slot.
Warning: Do not let the weight of the battery pack rest on the two keyhole
screws. Maintain support until the lower two screws are fully inserted. With an assistant, lift the battery pack and position to engage the screw heads.
Allow the battery pack to slide down until the slot end rests against the
screws. Insert the two lower screws through the tabs and tighten securely. For the Total Access 750/850, route and insert the battery cable to the AC/DC
power supply battery charging unit. Use cable tie-downs as appropriate. For
the Total Access 612/616/624, the -48 V connection from the Battery Pack
may be directly connected to the BATT port on the rear of the unit.
Rack Mount Installation - An optional set of two heavy-duty brackets can be
purchased separately (ADTRAN P/N 1175047L1 for 19 Rack or 1175048L1 for
23 Rack). The brackets bolt to either side of the battery pack for installation in a
19-inch or 23-inch rack. See the Rack Mount Installation figure. The brackets are
long enough so two battery packs can be mounted back-to-back.
Auxiliary Mount - In either installation, the AC/DC power supply battery
charging unit (P/N 1175043Lx) can mount directly to the battery pack on the
front of the unit using pre-threaded inserts. See the Rack Mount Installation
figure.
Note: The AC/DC Power Supply Battery Charging unit is designed for
use with the Total Access 750 and 850. It is not used with the Total
Access 612/616/624 units.
