Check Your Safety Equipment! Selected
State of New Jersey Motor Racing Rules are noted below for your
reference and convenience. THIS IS IMPORTANT! 稰lease check your seat belt tags. SFI belts have sewn on
labels with manufacture dates punched out. Yours need to be manufactured September, 2006 or later to be le-
gal. FIA belts have an expiration date imprint, or stamp. Yours must have an expiration date of 2008 or later.
FIA belts expire on Dec. 31 of year stamped.
Crotch belts need to pass thru the seat-not in front of the seat. Please check this!
Roll bar must be at least one inch above drivers head. Must be installed in accordance with sanctioning body
rules (see below for VRG roll bar rules).
VRG waives fuel cell requirement for this event. NJ regs do not address fuel cells.

that has integrated headrest without a direct pass thru for proper installation of a double shoulder belt.

NJ Rollbar Regulations
(c) Convertibles and open vehicles (except motorcycles) in races and race practices shall have a roll bar that is
a minimum of one inch above the head of any vehicle driver or instructor.
VRG Rollbar Regulations
3.2.1. Rollover Protection 3.2.1.1. Roll bars are required for all vehicles. The roll bar should be of sufficient
height to protect the driver in the event of a roll-over. In an open car, the roll bar should extend a minimum of 2
above the drivers helmet, with driver seated in normal position (Monoposto Classic cars may be exempted). In
an enclosed car, the rollover structure should extend 2 above the helmet, or as close as practicable along the
inside of the roof. Roll bar design, materials, and fabrication must be consistent with sound engineering prac-
tice, and excellent workmanship. The SCCA General Competition Rules (GCR) for 1979, or SCCA Vintage
rulebook, is recommended for reference.
I am working with a few restraint suppliers to get a volume discount for FIA and SFI belts-I hope to have infor-
mation available for VRG as well as MGVR by first week in August. My belts are expired as well; I am leaning
toward purchasing FIA belts this time around. Please stay tuned.
One note regarding VRG restraint rules-Open cockpit cars will be required to have arm restraints. Closed cock-
pit cars can utilize either arm restraint on window side, or a window net. There is no exception to this rule. Bor-
rowing from a fellow competitor is totally acceptable behavior, as long as fellow competitor knows of such ar-
rangements beforehand!
