50512 / SJ4785 Issue #2 A. Introduction:
The Full Length Axlematic for Fairbanks 2500-F2 indicators allows vehicles to be
weighed one axle at a time on standard full length truck scales. This program
allows Gross-Tare Net weighing, Inbound/Outbound weighing, and either
MANUAL or AUTO axle weighing. A third mode, DYNAMIC, is designed for scale
platforms with special section lengths and is available by Inquiry. Fees may be
assigned to the process and data is stored for reports and/or output to a computer.
Note: Axle weights are NOT LEGAL FOR TRADE. Weights obtained from a vehicle fully on
a scale can be used as legal weights providing scale is NTEP and certified by
Weights and Measures.
B. Specifications:
The Full Length Axlematic is designed to operate on any full electronic scale with 3
or more sections( truck must be fully scale born when complete). In MANUAL
mode or AUTO mode, the program will operate on a single load cell installed on a
mechanical scale with limited features. The indicator must be Fairbanks 2500-F2
with Intalogix Technology. The indicator comes with standard IN/OUT operation,
five (5) output ports, data storage capabilities, report generators, and flash program
capabilities. The basic setup may be Data Terminal or Weight Only. Traffic lights
are controlled by the instrument for traffic control. Axle weighing can take place in
three modes:
MANUAL
AUTO
*DYNAMIC
*Note : Dynamic mode requires a special scale platform and setup.

Section 2: Operation The axle weighing modes are accessed by placing the cursor next to the legend
"TRAFFIC CONTROL" and pressing ENTER until the desired mode is displayed.
NONE: The scale will operate as a standard indicator. A Gross - Tare - Net weighment
maybe processed, or, if operating in Data Terminal mode, an Inbound/Outbound
weighment may be processed.
RED: Traffic light test only.
GREEN: Traffic light test only.
MANUAL: In this mode there must be an attendant
Light is GREEN, Steering axle pulls on scale and stops
Operator presses PRINT, Screen changes to Axle capture screen
Light turns RED, after time-out, Total is displayed,
Light turns GREEN, Drive axle pulls on scale and stops
Operator presses PRINT,
Light turns RED, time-out Total updates
Light turns GREEN, tandem pulls on scale and stops
Operator presses PRINT,
Light turns RED, after time-out Total updates

The automatic mode requires the 'INITIAL WEIGHT', 'MINIMUM WEIGHT', 'FINAL
WEIGHT','AXLE TIMER', and the 'TOTAL TIMER' to be loaded in the 'AXLE CONTROL
MENU'.
The 'INITIAL WEIGHT' is the weight that triggers the automatic sequence and should be
a value that is greater than that caused by improper operation (people, animals and
light traffic) and less than the maximum expected steering axle of a truck i.e. 1000lbs.
The 'MINIMUM WEIGHT' should be set to a value that causes the automatic sequence to
be sustained after the steering axle is weighed and has moved forward. i.e. 500lbs.
The 'FINAL WEIGHT' can be used to trigger a print cycle in place of a 'TOTAL TIMER' or
physical sensor. This value is a weight to be detected by the last scale section of a full
electronic truck scale. Note: in a scale with one cell (type S truck scale) this value has no
effect.
The AXLE TIMER is used to delay switching the traffic lights to red when a truck axle is
detected. The lights are programmed to stay on for a minimum of 3 seconds before
switching back to green.
The TOTAL TIMER is started after each axle is detected and weighed. When the timer
expires, the axle measurement is stopped and the print cycle is started. It has some of the
attributes of the FINAL WEIGHT value and can be used in conjunction with it. A print cycle
is initiated when no activity is detected, for a time greater than the 'TOTAL TIMER', or if
the 'FINAL WEIGHT' value is detected over the last section of a full electronic truck scale.
