Its almost FALL again, and with the new season comes falling leaves.....and leaf
collection by the RCA Maintenance Department. Crews began leaf collection on
Monday, September 29, and continue until Monday, December 15, or when snow
season begins, whichever is earlier.
Some guidelines to follow when raking leaves curbside for pick-up:
!
Pick up is at curbside only. DO NOT place yard waste along roadsides
other than front of property, by mailboxes. Also, do not put waste in cul-
de-sacs or on main roads beside property.
!
Loose leaves ONLY must be on the grass behind road/gutter, free of
stones, metal, pumpkins, toys, and branches. Debris damages equipment!!!
!
Windrows should be no more than 3 feet wide, continuous along property
front.
Please check the RCAs website (www.radissoncommunity.org) regularly for the
current location of the leaf-vac. The page may be found by clicking on the
Maintenance News section on the menu bar, and then selecting the Leaf-Vac
Schedule page. This page will be updated on a
daily basis throughout the fall.
Below is the anticipated schedule for the Leaf-Vac as it makes its way through
the community. The Leaf-Vac will run on a continuous rotation, through the
street order as listed below. Street groupings marked in red each day will
indicate where the crew left off on the previous day. Street groupings marked
in gold each day will indicate where the crew anticipates starting on that day.
Collection will proceed as fast as the crews can go!

and keep informed about what is
happening? Your Community Association
has three main ways of keeping you, our
customer, informed: the Radisson
Reflections, the website
(radissoncommunity.org), and Committee
and Board meetings. A good way to be
part of the process is to volunteer and get
involved with one of our committees.
This issues featured committee is the Fi-
nance Committee. Their responsibility is
to advise and assist in the development and
maintenance of sound financial and ac-
counting policies, ensure a program for
repair and replacement of RCAs assets,
provide assistance in the formulation of the
Annual Budget, and conduct periodic re-
views of the financial condition of the Cor-
poration. This Committee meets quarterly
on the 3
rd
Tuesday of the month in the RCA
Office. The next meeting is scheduled for
Tuesday, Nov. 18 at 6:30 p.m.
Interested in how your dues are spent?
Reviewing whether we have enough
money in reserve to protect our assets?
Want to know the difference between Gen-
eral Reserve, Operating Fund, and Capi-
tal Fund?
Want to get involved in how we are going
to get the money to pay for additional
amenities? Then this Committee is for you!
Contact Lynn Furlong, our Office Manager
and Accountant, at the Radisson Commu-
nity Association Office: 635-7171.
First I would like to thank everyone for
the warm welcome. I have been your
Executive Director for a little over a
month and I can honestly say Im having
a great time! There have been a few
little fires to put out and a few late
nights, but with the support of an
excellent office staff and a seasoned
maintenance crew, there have been no
surprises.
Founders day was a great success! Even
the rain could not drown the community
spirit. I want to express my gratitude to
all the volunteers. Without you, the day
would have been a lot less enjoyable. I
also want to thank the Maintenance crew
who at great personal risk cleared
the area of bees and set the tents up that
proved to be a godsend when the
clouds opened. I would also like to thank
the members of the Corporate Park,
especially Anheuser-Busch and McLane/
Northeast, for their donation of beer and
food. Most importantly, I want to thank
Melanie Egan and the Recreation
Committee for coordinating the entire
event and making it a great success.
I tried to meet as many people as I could
during the event, but there was no way
to meet everyone. However, I know I
will bump into you eventually: either at
a community event or at the office.
Over the past few weeks, there have
been a few questions that have come up
regarding the yearly maintenance of the
Radisson Community. The first issue is
the repaving of Radburn Drive. As you
are aware, the Town of Lysander had
money set aside to repave the road.
Unfortunately, nothing is ever as simple
as it first appears.
The gutters needed to be repaired, and
there are two ways to do this. First grind
them down and recoat with a concrete
material, or pave over the top of them.
Upon closer investigation it was found
that neither solution would work. The
real issue is that there are no under
drains below the gutters. These drains
remove the groundwater that causes the
gutters to heave and crack with the frost.
Therefore, any work with the existing
gutters would be temporary since the
first frost would cause them to move,
causing damage to the new pavement.
The solution is to remove the gutters and
install a drainage system that will
remove groundwater. The gutters will
them have to be repoured; then the road
will be repaved. Unfortunately, there is
not enough money to do the project this
year, so it has been moved to the 2004
budget year. I will keep the residents of
Radburn up to date with any new
information.
The next question was, When would the
boat launch be ready? The target date for
completion of the boat launch is Novem-
ber 1. I know what you are thinking:
Seems a bit silly to be riding a jet ski
during snowmobile season. You are
right! But the project had a few delays
and did not proceed as planned due to
the vacancy of the Executive Directors
position.
During my first week as director, the
president of the board and I got the ball
rolling with the boat launch. Unfortu-
nately, a few small delays occurred due
to environmen
