Cisco Video Surveillance Convergence Chassis

Cisco Systems
®
offers network-centric video surveillance software and hardware that supports video transmission, monitoring, recording, and
management. These products protect customers existing investments in analog equipment, while enabling these devices to operate as part of an
IP-based network-centric deployment. Cisco
®
video surveillance products enable any-to-any multivendor device interoperability, allowing
customers to build best-in-class video surveillance systems that optimize price, performance, and capability. Cisco video surveillance products
are deployed within the Cisco Intelligent Converged Environment (ICE) architecture.
The Cisco Video Surveillance Convergence Chassis consolidates many physical security functions in to a single, highly flexible and
manageable rack-mountable platform supporting a wide range of modular capabilities ranging from video and audio encoding and decoding to
alarm contact closure aggregation, and IP / Ethernet network switching. It features a robust 3-RU rack-mountable chassis design capable of
supporting extended temperature ranges. With several possible mounting bracket configurations it retains an easily accessible ground lug and
rear-panel power switch for quick maintenance and deployment.
With a total of 16 modular slots, the Cisco Video Surveillance Convergence Chassis supports an entire range of Cisco IP Gateway modules,
with up to 64 encoder ports in a single chassis, today. A choice of high performance Gigabit Ethernet, multi-port Fast Ethernet and Universal
Serial Bus (USB) output ports provides network connectivity and flexible compatibility with direct-attach Cisco Video Surveillance Services
Platforms. The convergence chassis backplane, which interconnects all Cisco Video Surveillance IP Gateway plug-in modules and the power
supply, is field-replaceable and upgradable.
Power supply options include an external power supply chassis capable of powering up to four convergence chassis while enabling maximum
module density. Internal 115V and 230V two-slot power supplies can be integrated in to the chassis for a single chassis solution. Unique
current sensing circuitry built into the power supply constantly monitors the supplied current and automatically interrupts power in an over-
current situation. Fuses and temperature-sensing circuits are present for additional layers of protection. Further, automatic current limiting is
present on each Cisco Video Surveillance IP Gateway, providing shutdown in the event an individual module has a problem. These automatic
current limiting features are self-resetting; if the fault is temporary or intermittent, the entire chassis can automatically return to normal
operation.
Cisco Video Surveillance Convergence Chassis with Gigabit Ethernet
The Cisco Video Surveillance Convergence Chassis with Gigabit Ethernet ports is fully Layer 2+ managed switch. The switch features 2
Gigabit Ethernet copper or fiber ports, and 4 10/100 Fast Ethernet ports. The gigabit Ethernet ports use Small Form-Factor Pluggable (SFP)
modular connections. An additional Fourteen 10/100 Ethernet ports are internally accessible through the backplane of the Cisco Video
Surveillance Convergense Chassis. The chassis accepts all Cisco Video Surveillance IP Gateway plug-in modules. Ethernet-capable modules
connect directly into the switch without any further cabling, minimizing or eliminating the need for external switches.
Cisco Video Surveillance Convergence Chassis with Fast Ethernet
The Cisco Video Surveillance Convergence Chassis with Fast Ethernet ports is the entry-level convergence chassis for direct network
connected deployments. With eight integrated 100 Mbps (Fast Ethernet) switch ports, this chassis can support a large number of video streams.
Featuring back-side RJ-45 ports, the chassis allows connected Cisco Video Surveillance IP Gateways plug-in modules to be inserted or
removed from the chassis without the need to disconnect the network cable.

Cisco Video Surveillance Convergence Chassis with USB ports
The Cisco Video Surveillance Convergence Chassis with four integrated USB 2.0 hub ports provides a quick and easy way to connect to
Ciscos video surveillance recording platfoms. Up to sixteen 4-channel MPEG-4 Cisco Video Surveillance IP Gateway encoder modules can be
placed in the chassis, providing 64 video inputs. The resultant MPEG-4 digital video outputs are connected by four USB-2 buses, making the
chassis an ideal drop-in replacement for existing digital multiplexer recorder and providing exceptional price/performance ratio, modularity,
and reliability.
Features
Compact 3-RU design:
Gigabit Ethernet option provides a high-bandwidth Layer 2+ network interface that is can support hundreds of broad-cast quality video
streams.
Multi-port Fast Ethernet offers a low-cost entry point for consolidated IP Gateway aggregation and switched network connectivity
USB port options allow up to 64 MPEG4 IP Gateway Encoders to be directly connected to Cisco Video Surveillance Services Platforms
for a high density video stream recording solution.
Internal, external, and redundant power supply options
Over-current sensing and control circuitry standard
Plug-in modules individually protected
Backplane is field-upgradable for easy maintenance and flexibility
