Installation Instructions
Model #1600, #1601 for
the Seville Insert
Read these instructions completely before begin-
ning installation.
Check Contents of Shipping Carton
Compare contents of carton in Figure 1 with actual
parts received. If any parts are missing or damaged,
contact your dealer before starting installation.
Kit contents:
Left Fan and Harness Assy
Right Fan Assy
Left Air Passage
Right Air Passage
Hardware Bag: (4) 1/4-20 hex hd screws, (4) 1/4 flat
washers, (3) wire clips, (1) push nut, (1) control knob,
Instruction sheet
Tools required: small phillips screwdriver, 7/16 box or
open end wrench.
Installation Precaution
Test the operation of fans before installing:
1. Connect fan power harness to the right fan.
2. Connect the power cord to a three-prong outlet.
3. Turn the rheostat switch ON.
4. Apply heat to the Snapstat with a hot air device such
as a hair drier or heat gun. The fan will operate when
the snapstat reaches 90
°
F.
If the control is left in the ON position, the fans will shut
off when the Snapstat temperature falls below 90
°
F.
Installation Instructions
New Installation (Insert has not yet been positioned in
fireplace.)
1. Fasten wire clips to rear shroud. Space clips equally
across bottom edge. (Fig. 2)
2. Replace the pan head screw with a hex head screw
and washer. (Fig. 2)
3. Snap Right Fan Power harness into wire clips. Take
care to position wire harness so the insert wheels do
not pinch when moving the insert into position. (Fig.
2)
4. Slide the Left Fan Enclosure into place. Tighten hex
head screw.
5. Proceed to Install the Right Fan Enclosure.

1. Remove surround.
2. It may be necessary to pull Insert forward 8 - 10 to
allow for installation of fan.
3. Replace the pan head screw with a hex head screw
and washer. (Fig. 2)
4. Place the fan unit on the left side, top of the insert.
Thread the right fan power harness behind the flue
collar from left to right. Manipulate the harness back
until it drops behind the insert and rests on the
fireplace floor behind the insert wheels. Retain wire
clips from hardware bag for installation as explained
above if the insert is ever removed from the fire-
place.
5. Slide the left fan enclosure into place and tighten
hex head screw.
Install the Right Fan Enclosure
1. Make certain the fan power harness is connected to
the fan.
2. Replace the pan head screw with a hex head screw
and washer. (Fig. 2)
3. Connect the fan unit to the power harness.
4. Slide the right fan enclosure into place and tighten
the hex head screw. (Similar to Fig. 2)
Install the Left and Right Air Passage
1. Remove pan head screw and discard. (Fig. 2)
2. Remove lower wing nut and retain, rotate bar
clockwise until the actuator disengages from thermo-
stat lever. (Fig. 2)
3. Position Left Air Passage. Install hex head screw
and washer. (Fig. 2)
4. Return actuator, bar and wing nut to original posi-
tions.
5. Repeat Steps 1 and 3 only, for Right Air Passage.

Install Rheostat in Surround
1. IMPORTANT: Make certain that all electrical
wires are supported or positioned so that no
pinching or binding occurs.
2. Position the assembled surround in front of the now
installed insert. Leave enough room between the
surround and fireplace front to continue making
electrical connections. Refer to the Owners Manual
before proceeding.
3. Orient the rheostat with the longest side parallel to
the floor and the wires facing away from the insert.
4. Position the rheostat shaft through the control
opening in the surround.
5. Fasten the shaft in place with the rheostat nut. Make
certain the concave face of the nut faces away from
the fireplace. Do not over tighten.
6. Press the rheostat control knob onto the rheostat
shaft. (Fig. 3)
7. Complete the surround installation as described in
the Owners Manual.
