PART 1 GENERAL
1.1
SUBMITTALS
A.
Product Data:
1. Provisions established within the General and Supplementary Conditions of the Contract,
Division 1 - General Requirements and the Drawings are collectively applicable to this
Section.
a. Include material details for each exhibit case specified; aluminum frame, hinged or
sliding doors, illumination, and glass shelving.
B.
Shop Drawings:
1. Submit shop drawings showing layout, profiles, and product components, including
dimensions, anchorage, all details, elevations, plans and sections required to indicate all
conditions.
C.
Samples:
1. Submit suppliers standard color chart for selection purposes and selected colors for
verification purposes.
1.2
QUALITY ASSURANCE
A.
Supplier: Obtain all products in this section from a single supplier.
B.
Regulatory Requirements: Products shall meet requirements of the Americans with
Disabilities Act Accessibility Guidelines (ADAAG) and local amendments and
modifications.
C.
Installer: Installer specialized and experienced in work similar to that required for this
project shall perform Installation.
PART 2 PRODUCTS
2.1
ACCEPTABLE MANUFACTURERS
A.
Specifications based on Exhibit Case Series manufactured by Poblocki Sign Company LLC,
800-776-7064, West Allis, WI 53214. Manufacturers products listed must meet or exceed the
specifications approved for this project. Other manufacturers must have a minimum of five years
experience manufacturing products that meet or exceed these specifications and comply with
Division 1 requirements regarding substitutions.

2.2
MATERIALS AND COMPONENTS
A.
Materials and Components
1.
Aluminum Extrusions: Meeting ASTM B221, alloy 6063-T5.
2.
Aluminum Panels: Meeting ASTM B209, minimum 0.090" (2.28mm) thick.
2.3
FABRICATION
A.
General:
1.
Comply with requirements indicated for materials, thickness, finishes, colors, designs,
shapes, sizes, and details of construction.
2.
Welded Connections: Comply with AWS standards for recommended practices in shop
welding. Provide welds behind finished surfaces without distortion or discoloration of
exposed side. Clean exposed welded surfaces of welding flux and dress on exposed and
contact surfaces.
3.
Mill joints to a tight, hairline fit.
4.
Exhibit Cases to be fully factory assembled. No visible fasteners or knocked-down cases
will be acceptable.
5.
Form panels to required size and shape. Comply with requirements indicated for design,
dimensions, finish, color, and details of construction.
6.
Exhibit Cases to be fabricated based on dimensions as shown on architectural drawings.
7.
Coordinate dimensions and attachment methods to produce display panels with closely
fitting joints. Align edges and surfaces with one another in the relationship indicated.
8.
Increase metal thickness or reinforce with concealed stiffeners or backing materials as
required to produce surfaces without distortion, buckles, warp, or other surface
deformations.
a. Fabricate frame from extruded aluminum. Corners to have hairline miters and
be braced by means of internal aluminum angels. If welding is necessary, none
should be visible. Frames shall have a continuous back-up member behind door.
b. Venting: Provide venting as a recommended by the manufacture to prevent
condensation.
B.
Mounting Options:
1.
Surface Mounting: Surface mount exhibit case flush to wall through back plate.
2.
Recessed or Semi-recessed Mounting: Recess mount case to wall structure through back
plate or case sides.
3.
Freestanding: Mechanically fasten to aluminum framing structure mounted to floor if
required. Floor levelers provided with all freestanding units.
4.
Pedestal Mounting: Matching finish pedestal base to mount exhibit case to floor through
internal aluminum framing structure.
C.
Exhibit Case Construction:
1.
Casing: Aluminum extrusion mitered and assembled with concealed corner angles.
2.
Housing: Aluminum cabinet fully factory assembled with fixed glass ends and a
¾ AC plywood or glass back.
3.
Facia (Model R only): Plastic Laminate located above and below visual display area.
4.
Legs (Models P and Q only): 1x 1 tubular aluminum legs with self-levelers.
5.
Locks: Cam locks for hinged doors or ratchet type locks for sliding doors.
D.
Finishes:

1.
Aluminum with anodized finish: Light, Medium or Dark Bronze, Clear or Black.
2.
Aluminum with Buffed Bright Dipped Clear or Gold Anodized.
3.
Aluminum with a polyurethane coating, with recommended film thickness of 3.3 mils
wet 1 mil dry (min.). Faces shall be smooth, free of scratches, blemishes or other
imperfections.
E. Door Profiles:
1.
Regular sliding ¼ clear Hz tempered glass doors, with ratchet type locks keyed alike
(interior only).
2.
Heavy-duty sliding aluminum extrusion mitered and assembled glass doors with
perimeter frame with concealed corner angles and ratchet type locks keyed alike. Glass
within door to be ¼ thick clear Hz tempered glass or ¼ thick laminated safety glass
(interior only).
3.
Hinged heavy-duty aluminum extrusion, mitered and assembled with concealed corner
angles, ¼ thick clear Hz tempered glass or ¼ thick laminated safety glass, and cam
locks keyed alike (interior or exterior).
4.
Fixed heavy-duty aluminum extrusion, mitered and assembled with concealed corner
angles, ¼ thick clear Hz tempered glass or ¼ thick laminated safety glass, and cam
locks keyed alike (interior or exterior).
F.
Lighting:
1.
Type: Regular T-12 fluorescent or Small T-8 fluorescent or Tack Lighting (spots).
Voltage: 120 or 277 volts.
Location: Top within frame or Custom.
Baffles: Extruded flat aluminum or 3x1 aluminum channel or .063 brake metal strip or

PART 3 EXECUTION
3.1
EXAMINATION
A.
Site Verification of Conditions: Verify installation conditions previously established under other
sections are acceptable for product installation in accordance with manufacturer's instructions.
B.
Scheduling of installation by Owner or their representative implies that substrate and conditions
are prepared and ready for product installation. Proceeding with installation implies installers
acceptance of substrate and conditions.
3.2
INSTALLATION
A.
Install product in accordance with suppliers instructions.
B.
Install product in locations indicated using mounting methods recommended by exhibit case
manufacturer and free from distortion, warp, or defect adversely affecting appearance.
C.
Install product level, plumb, and at heights indicated in accordance with manufacturers
recommendations.
D.
Install product at heights to conform to Americans with Disabilities Act Accessibility Guidelines
(ADAAG) and applicable local amendments and regulations.
E.
Follow manufacturers instructions for storage and handling of units before installation.
