Brothers and sisters in Christ, after much prayer, planning, and work by
so many members of this school community, we come here now to bless and
dedicate this new addition of Xavier High School to the glory of God. It will
be a center for school and community activities, a place where community
and church come together, a place where people get to know one another and
give witness to their faith in Christ.
Hear what the apostle Paul says in his first letter to the Corinthians:
"We are God's servants, working together; you are God's field, God's build-
ing. According to the grace of God given to me, like a skilled master builder I
established a foundation, and someone else is building on it. Each builder
must choose with care how to build on it. For no one can set any foundation
other than the one that has been created; that foundation is Jesus Christ."
(Corinthians 3:9-11)
Let us now go forth in peace,
In the name of our Lord.
In the name of the Father,
and the Son,
and the Holy Spirit.
Amen.

The campaign for funds was begun on April 4, 1956
and concluded on June 17, 1956. The cost of the school
was estimated to be just under $2,000,000. The mini-
mum goal set in the drive was $600,000; the maximum
expected was $1,000,000. On June 17, 1956, between
the hours of 1:30 and 3:30 p.m., every available Catholic
wage earner in the city was contacted and pledges
totaling $1,298,871.86 were secured.
The choice of a name for
the school was then consid-
ered. An appeal was made to
the 7th and 8th grade pupils of
the five parishes to submit
their preferences. Xavier, sur-
name of St. Francis Xavier,
was the choice of the majority.
Tuition was set at $75 per
semester for Appleton students
and $150 per semester for non-
Appleton students.
After public announce-
ment had been made
that Xavier would open
its doors to freshmen
and sophomores for the
1959-1960 school year,
registrations poured in.
At the end of July, 450
students had been
accepted.

We shape our buildings; thereafter they shape us.
- Winston Churchill
With words like these, taken from our campaign litera-
ture, still echoing in our heads, it is with great pride that
I write this letter on behalf of the many dedicated people
who made Forward In Faith a success.
The ACES Xavier Forward In Faith Campaign began
in January of 2004. The principle focus of the campaign
was the development of capital funding necessary to ensure the future of Catholic education in
the Fox Valley while also developing long term operational funding in the form of an endowment.
In the area of capital funding, the primary goal was to raise sufficient funds to replace the eastern
academic area of Xavier High School with a new two story academic wing. That goal was
reached in June of 2005 with construction starting soon thereafter, allowing for student use to
begin in September of 2006.
An additional capital need was the raising of funds to build a practice gymnasium to accommo-
date the many athletic endeavors of the Xavier student body. That goal, reached in March of
2006, allowed the gym to open in conjunction with use of the academic wing.
Reaching the goals of the capital needs portion of the Forward In Faith Campaign was made
possible by 1,400 donors. To each and every one of them, the students, the faculty, the adminis-
tration, the campaign steering committee and the Board of Trustees express their sincere grati-
tude for their gift, one that brings a state of the art facility to the Catholic high school students of
the Fox Valley. Your commitment goes a long way to ensure the future of Catholic education in
the Fox Valley.
