STEP Warmfloor - Control
The DIGI-LUX Electronic
Thermostat/Regulator is a microprocessor
device used for zone control of a STEP
Warmfloor system that is providing total
room or house heat. Use of a DIGI-LUX will
create an even higher energy efficient system
while providing better control over personal
comfort.
The DIGI-LUX uses a special preprogrammed
algorithm to closely match the heat input to the
predicted heat loss based upon the measured air
temperature.
The DIGI-LUX Thermostat is designed to be
flush wall mounted on a single gang box.
FAQ
Q: How do you control a STEP Warmfloor
floor warming system for a small to medium
sized room application?
A: Floor warming in a bath or kitchen can be
operated without controls by solely using the
self-regulating nature of STEP
Warmfloor. If some control is desired,
use a dimmer (for use with magnetic low
voltage transformers) on the line voltage
side of the transformer. Make sure that the
dimmer is rated for the wattage load of the
system. Since the control device is installed
on the primary side of the transformer you
can add the dimmer at a later time, also.
Q: How do you control a STEP Warmfloor
radiant heat system for a single room or total
house heat application?
A: STEP Warmfloor offers a unique digital
pulser control unit called DIGI. This device
consists of a thermostat and a regulator. The
thermostat is wall mounted in a central
location most representative of the zone it
controls. The regulator is typically mounted
adjacent to the low voltage transformer(s)
that it controls. The thermostat includes a
digital display with pushbutton selection of
the desired set-point. This device
complements the self-regulating nature of
the STEP Warmfloor system and provides
additional energy savings in addition to
greater personal comfort.
