Overview

The DVB Rocket
TM
is ultra high-speed MPEG-II and DVB standard
compliant IP/DVB switch used to overlay terrestrial Intranets and
global Internet connections that run from 2048 Kbps to full transponder
range. Ultra high throughputs and performance can be achieved when
running in switch mode. IP multicast packets are always switched.

DVB Rocket
TM
can switch more than 65,000 individual and network
addresses.
Its primary purpose is to give customers the ability to seamlessly inte-
grate IP over DVB technology in existing DVB & ATSC compliant
distribution systems. It fully implements European DVB standards EN
301 192 multiprotocol encapsulation (MPE).

Routing Capabilities
·
DVB Rocket
TM
uses IETF standard routing policies. Static routes are
configured for IP-unicast packets (e.g. TCP & UDP user traffic) and for
IP multicast (UDP) traffic.

The IP/DVB switch completes the routing information with the
MPEG-II transport stream packet identifier (PID) and receivers
Ethernet MAC address information.
