Drawings and General Provisions of Contract, including General and Supplementary
Conditions in the Invitation for Bid with attachments including specification and drawings,
and other sections of the specifications not referenced below shall also apply to the extent
required for proper performance of the Work of this section.

1.2
SUMMARY:
A.
The work covered under this section of the specifications shall include the furnishing and
installation of temporary and/or permanent chain link fencing, gates, backstops and related
work as shown on the drawings and specified. Work as applicable includes:

Galvanized steel
2.
Aluminized steel
3.
PVC coated steel

The following divisions contain requirements that may relate to this section:

SUBMITTALS:
A.
Submit the following according to the conditions of the contract and the Invitation Bid.
1.
Product data in the form of manufacturer's technical data, specifications, and installation
instructions for fence and gate posts, fabric, gates, backstops, and accessories.
2.
Shop drawings showing location of fence, gates, each post, backstops, and details of post
installation, extension arms, gate swing, hardware, and accessories as applicable.
3.
12" x 12" sample of each specified chain link fabric. Include sample with PVC coating
for verification of specified black color.
4.
12" long sample of specified pipe and rail. Include sample with PVC coating for
verification of specified black color.
5.

QUALITY ASSURANCE:

A.
Installer's Qualifications: Engage an experienced installer approved by the manufacturer who
has at least five (5) years experience and has completed at least five chain link fence projects
with same material and of similar scope to that indicated for this project with a successful
construction record of in service performance.


B.
Provide chain link fences, gates and accessories produced by a single manufacturer, including
necessary erection accessories, fittings, and fastenings.

C.
Materials and installation shall comply with the standards of the Chain Link Manufacturer
Institute (CLMI) and American Society of Testing and Materials as applicable.

D.
Verify and coordinate layout of fencing as shown on the plans. Stake fence locations for
Owner's approval prior to beginning work.

DELIVERY, HANDLING AND STORAGE:

A.
Deliver chain link fence materials and accessories in factory-fabricated containers or
wrappings, which properly protect from damage.

B.
Store and handle chain link fence materials and accessories carefully to prevent damage,
breaking, and scoring of finishes. Do not install damaged materials; replace with new.

SEQUENCING AND SCHEDULING:

A.
Coordinate installation with final grading, seeding, sodding and with other related site work.

B.
Sequence installation with other work to minimize possibility to damage and soiling during
remainder of construction.


PART 2 - PRODUCTS

2.1
MANUFACTURERS:

A.
Manufacturer's fence of domestic manufacture by the following will be acceptable: Page
Aluminized Corporation, Anchor Fence, Inc., Cyclone Fence Division or Allied Tube and
Conduit.
2.2
GENERAL:

A.
All fabric, posts, rails, and hardware shall be aluminized, galvanized, and/or PVC coated as
specified. Fencing requiring the PVC coating shall be designated on the plans.

B.
Reference to gauge or other size shall refer to steel measured prior to coating application.

MATERIAL:

A.
Chain Link Fabric:

1.
Fabric shall be one piece (height per plans) of 9 gauge (6 gauge for vertical fabric at
backstop) wire woven in a 2 inch chain link diamond mesh pattern. Bottom selvage shall
have a knuckled finish.
2.
Finish:
a.
Aluminum coated, ASTM A491, A817, Class I, 0.40 ounces of aluminum per square
foot of surface, coated before fabric fabrication.

b.
PVC Coated: ASTM F668, Class 2b, thermally fused and adhered to zinc coated
wire.

3.
Break Strength: In all cases, individual wire strand shall exhibit a minimum 1290 lbf
break strength.

B.
Framework:

1.
Provide manufacturer's standard round pipe, except as otherwise indicated. All posts and
rails shall be Type II cold formed and welded steel pipe complying with ASTM F669
with an external coating complying with ASTM F1234 Type B zinc with organic
overcoat.

Manufacturer's longest lengths (17 to 21 feet) with swedged-end or expansion-type
coupling, approximately 6 inches long for joining. Provide rail ends or other means
for attaching top rail securely to each gate corner, pull, and end post.

Finish:

a.
Galvanized in accordance with 2.3.B.1. and where applicable, P.V.C. coated in
accordance with ASTM 1234; 10-15 mils thermally fused P.V.C.



C.
Top and Bottom Tension Wire:

1.
1.7 gauge (.177") steel coiled spring tension wire, finish shall match fabric finish.
(Bottom tension wire used for fencing enclosed storm retention ponds only, all other
fencing shall have a top and bottom rail.)
