Getting Started
The PalettePicker panel allows you to easily browse and implement color schemes
published on the
http://kuler.adobe.com
website.

About kuler
Adobe kuler provides access to thousands of different color themes for use in website
design.

Installing the PalettePicker extension
1.

Download the PalettePicker.mxp extension from your Order History.
2.

Open the Adobe Extension Manager.
3.

Click the Install button.
4.

Select .mxp extension and click Install.
5.

Click Accept to the Adobe Extension Manager Disclaimer.
6.

Once installation is complete, open Dreamweaver. You will be prompted to
enter your serial number when you first open the PalettePicker panel.
Your serial number is provided for you in your Order History.





Opening the Dreamweaver Tools for PalettePicker panel
From the Window option in the Menu Bar, select PalettePicker.

Docking and undocking the PalettePicker panel
The PalettePicker panel can be docked or undocked in your Dreamweaver
Workspace.
By clicking and dragging from the top left corner of the PalettePicker panel, it can be
undocked to it's own floating panel, placed among other panels or grouped with
other panels.

Basic Operation

Search for Color Themes
Page through Color Themes After completing your search, click the Next or Back
arrows to navigate through more results.

Searching for Color Themes
The PalettePicker panel allows you to easily search through all the color themes
stored on kuler.
Select an option from the Search Menu
From the Search Menu, specify which type of search you plan to perform. The
following four options return predefined results:
Most recent*
Most popular
Highest rated
Random
*By default, Most recent is automatically selected, you can load these results by
clicking on the search icon.

Entering Search Criteria
You search criteria will vary depending on the search option selected:
Email: Enter the full or partial email address to search color themes by user
Tag: Searches tags added to color themes by their originator
Hex: Searches by hexadecimal color - Enter only the 6-digit number (excluding
#)
Title: Searches the titles of all color themes
All: Searches all the above options
Once you have entered your search criteria, click the search icon to view the
results.
Paging
through Color Themes

The PalettePicker panel displays five results at a time. The counter indicates how
many pages of results there are, and which page you are currently viewing.
To page through your results click on the next arrow to view the next page of
results, and the back arrow to view the previous pages results.

More details regarding each color theme is available on the kuler.adobe.com website.
Click on the title of the color theme of your PalettePicker panel results to be taken to
the details page for that theme.

The PalettePicker panel makes inserting various colors into your page simple.

Searching Published kuler Colors
You can use the PalettePicker panel to search all published color themes based on
the following criteria:

Most Recent: Returns the most recently published kuler Color Themes
Most Popular: Returns the most downloaded kuler Color Themes
Highest Rated: Returns the kuler Color Themes that have been rated the
highest on the
http://kuler.adobe.com
website
Random: Returns a random set of results
Email: Searches based on a full or partial email address entered in the Search
field.
Tag: Searches tags added to color themes by their originator
Hex: Searches by hexadecimal color (excluding #)
Title: Searches the titles of all color themes
All: Searches all the above options
Note: The search field is inactive for the Most recent, Most popular, Highest rated,
Random, and All options.
Working with PalettePicker

Using the PalettePicker panel when creating CSS styles in Design
View
Using the CSS Styles panel in Dreamweaver, you can easily utilize the PalettePicker
panel to pick and choose the ideal colors for your site.
1.

Choose your desired color theme in the PalettePicker panel.
2.

Open the CSS panel in Dreamweaver.
3.

Select a color syle from within the CSS Panel
4.

Select the color picker
5.

Click on the color of your choosing from the themes displayed in the
PalettePicker panel.

Using the PalettePicker panel with any color picker
Color pickers are utilized throughout Dreamweaver and allow you to select and use
any color that appears on your screen. Use the PalettePicker panel and choose a
desirable color
Color themes selected from the PalettePicker panel can be easily utilized anywhere in
Dreamweaver with the use of a color picker.
1.

Select your desired theme from the PalettePicker panel.
2.

Click on the color picker box
3.

Click on the color you have selected in the PalettePicker panel

Using the PalettePicker panel in Code View
1.

In Code View of your Dreamweaver page, highlight the hexadecimal color
code (including #), or place your cursor where you wish to insert the color
code.
2.

Click on the color of your choice from the PalettePicker panel.

Using the PalettePicker panel using WebAssist products
Many WebAssist tools utilize color pickers to assign colors. With your PalettePicker
panel displayed, you can easily use the color picker to select a color of your choice,
to use in any WebAssist product.
With WebAssists CSS Sculptor
1.

Using the PalettePicker panel, select the Color Theme of your choice
2.

Open CSS Sculptor
3.

In the CSS Sculptor Wizard, select the Design tab
4.

Select any layout component
5.

Click on the color picker box
6.

Click on the color of your choice from the PalettePicker panel
