Installation Instructions
Gas Lanterns with Electronic Safety Starters
1.
Customers installer will need to provide a 120VAC to 24V transformer (Doorbell
Type Transformer).
2.
It is important that the transformer 24v secondary lead is grounded to a true earth
ground for system to work properly.
For use with Natural Gas or LP/Propane Gas systems
Connect the gas supply to the gas light using a 1/4" inch flared fitting,
Some units use 3/16 inch flared fittings
The Electronic Safety Starter is a 24 Volt Low Voltage System.
The customer will provide the necessary 120v to 24v transformer (doorbell type transformer) for
each lantern. This is to be placed in line between the control (light) switch, photo cell, or timer
that may be used in the system and the gas light.
Be sure that the transformers 24v AC secondary ground wire is connected to the 120v supply
chassis and a true earth ground rod/wire.
From the 24v side of the transformer 1-lead will connect to the blue harness wire.
The 2
nd
- lead will be the grounding connection to the light body/electrode base plate (bare
copper wire), and the 3
rd
harness (green).
For your information in the event that wiring harness wire becomes separated.
The wiring harness plugs into the control unit with the tabs facing inside the control unit.
Harness wires should be connected
1.
1-red to gas valve top black wire
2.
1-blue primary supply to 24v transformer
3.
1-green ground to 24v transformer
4.
1-green ground to gas valve bottom black wire
5.
1-white NOT USED-must be capped off and isolated
Leads from the lantern body/electrode base plate black electrode high voltage wire with spade
end connects to the black round component with the SPADE fitting on top inside the control unit
Copper ground wire form the body/electrode base plate is paired with the green harness ground
wire, and the true earth ground rod/wire to the 24v transformer secondary ground wire.

DO NOT adjust the GAP between the electrodes inside the lantern.
The electrodes should be positioned so that they will be perpendicular to the slot in the tip and
should be sticking through the flame.
When the unit is turned on you should hear a rapid clicking noise and you will see sparking
between the electrodes which will ignite the flame tip. The clicking should stop after a short
time. If the flame goes out the unit will sense the flame loss and will begin to re-ignite and restart
the flame. If the flame does not re-ignite after (3) three tries the system will shut off the gas and
shut down the system.
To restart the system turn the power or switch off and turn it back on to reset the system.
If unit will not ignite check the gas supply to make sure it is turned on and that there is gas in the
tank if you are using an LP/Propane system.
If the system will not re-ignite you may contact us at 877-427-5483 for assistance.
