2008 SPRING TERM RELATED
TRAINING CLASSES COMPLETED

The week of April 28th we started our
now completed short spring term. As we move into summer on the job projects,
there is an active Out of Work List ready to send to all our Training
Shops.
All you have to do is ask!

2008-09 TEXTBOOKS ARE
COMING YOUR WAY SOON

We are starting the process for getting our 2008-09
Textbook order forms ready to send out. Look for them sometime in July.
We will be using Cengage Learning again this year.

THE FIELD TRIP A SUCCESS
ON SATURDAY, APRIL 19

The annual Mandatory Apprentice Field
Trip scheduled on Saturday, April19th was a success. This year it was
a Vendor Show and Demonstration sponsored by North Coast Electric.16
Vendors came to show off their products including safety equipment,
tools, etc. Thank you to North Coast for organizing it.

NEW APPRENTICE DATABASE
IS HERE

The IEC Oregon office has purchased a new Database
which has been installed. Phase I will not change how our apprentice
program is run, but it will make record keeping easier and more accessible.
We hope down the road that Phase II will be more electronically interactive
for Apprentices and Training Shops.

CHANGE TO RECORD KEEPING
FOR MONTHLY PROGRESS REPORTS

Thanks to those of you who submit your MPRs on time
and complete with all hours totaled correctly, and signed by your supervisor. In the future original copies of your MPR forms
will no longer be retained by this office after they have been processed.
As in the past, a printed copy of your database record is always available
upon request.

REPORTING OUT-OF-RATIO
VIOLATIONS

DID YOU KNOW: If you are an apprentice who observes a shop out of ratio you are
protected if you choose to report this violation. You will not get in
trouble for reporting this situation to the Bureau of Labor and Industries
(BOLI). You also have the option of changing training agents. Call the
progam Administrator who will assist you in finding employment with
a shop that values its reputation by following industry standards.

SAFETY MATTERS

Current CPR and First Aid cards are important and
required.  Send copies of your current cards to the office for
your records. You should be aware at all times of on-the-job safety
and report any violations you observe to the journeyman you are working
with. Safety does matter to all.

FORMS CAN BE FOUND
ON OUR WEBSITE

There are forms available at www.iecoregon.org for both apprentices and training agents. The downloadable forms
for apprentices are MPRs and Buck Slips. For training shops they are
Apprentice Release forms and Intent to Hire and the 2008 Wage Scale.
