Version 1.2 08/14/07 Tools and preparation
This set of instructions makes the assumption that you have some basic cabinet build-
ing skills. Below is a list of the tools you will need to create your arcade cabinet.
These instructions are not going to cover techniques, so if you have never built any-
thing like this before, you may want to enlist the help of someone who has. I will
cover the basic principals and share how mine was built. You may have to make
modifications for your cabinet that is not covered here. Just plan ahead as much as
possible and you will be fine. Remember, measure twice, cut once!
Notes:
1) Counter-sink all screw holes, especially if you are going to use laminate to cover
your cabinet.
2) Plan ahead if using laminate. What pieces will need laminate before assembly?
What pieces will need laminate after assembly?
3) Plan ahead for slotting panels for T-Molding. Specifically, the control panel shelf
needs to be T-slotted before assembly to the cabinet.
BLUEPRINTS ARE SUPPLIED AT THE END OF THESE INSTRUCTIONS
Tools: Panel Saw Straight Edge Router T-Slot bit for router (www.t-molding.com) Straight bit for router (trimming laminate, cutting panels) Wood screws : Use screws made for MDF or particle board or tight grip
- Normal wood screws dont seem to work as well in MDF
- You will need at least 3 lengths:
1 1/4 for MDF to MDF
2 for MDF to Wood Stud
2 1/2-3/4 for Stud to Stud (only a few)

Notes: Use blueprints for locations May need to modify placement due to size
of monitor/TV Suggest fitting TV/monitor in place with
bezel to make sure the placement is exact May need to add spacers to line up TV/
monitor correctly with front of cabinet
Additional Spacers
TV/Monitor Mounting Options: To lock in the monitor, refer
to the following pictures 2 x 4 x 28 locks the monitor
down onto the monitor shelf Additional blocks can be used
to wedge the monitor in place Remove monitor after fitting,
do not install until almost
complete. Final piece to hold monitor in
place is done near the end of
the assembly

the castors as shown, using lag
screws and washers.
-Make sure that the castors can
move freely without hitting any
portion of the cabinet before
installing. You can now apply the Formica to the sides of the cabinet. This
adds a nice finish and covers up all the screws used to build the cabi-
net. After the Formica is applied, you can now notch the edges to receive
the T-Molding.

13) Sandwich marquee between (2)
sheets of 1/8 x 8 1/2 x 28 Plexiglas.
Place over opening, secure PVC to
cabinet to hold marquee in place.
14) Install speakers and speaker
grills.
15) Place monitor inside the
cabinet. In this install, a piece of
1/2 plywood is used to hold the
monitor in place.
16) At this point, you can now
add the monitor bezel to the
monitor and then a final bezel
cover (matte material) to take up
the remaining space. Place the
glass over all. You can also use a
piece of quarter-round trim to
hold the glass down once in
place.

18) Wiring: In the pictures below, you can see the basic wiring of the
cabinet. The black wire is a spliced extension cord (heavy duty) running
to a switch (near the coin door). Then one power line goes to the mar-
quee light, the other to the outlet shown. This is for the computer and
monitor.
-As you can see below, by
mounting the volume control
to the coin door, it keeps the
look of the cabinet more
authentic by hiding it. It also
is a convenient place for the
main power switch

- Shown above is the subwoofer and PC secured down with metal
Tape and screws
- I also used spare wood blocks to help keep them from shifting
20) If you purchased your con-
trol panel, then you can now
mount it to the cabinet.
(might have to wait until cabinet
is where it will be used)
- After placing the control panel
and feeding the wires through,
secure it to the control panel
shelf with screws from under-
neath.

is plugged in and everything works first!
That is basically it! You are now ready to start gaming!
