City of Fond du Lac - Weekly Construction Update

The City of Fond du Lac is providing a weekly update on construction projects located within the
corporate boundary. Motorists are advised to use caution and remain alert when driving though
any work zone. Drivers are also encouraged to visit the City of Fond du Lac web site at
www.ci.fond-du-lac.wi.us
and view a map of the 2008 construction projects which may aid
drivers in planning an alternate route.

6th Street (US 45) from Main Street to Fond du Lac Avenue
Schedule: March 26, 2008 to November 17, 2008
Description:

The project includes grading, base aggregate dense, concrete pavement, HMA
pavement, sidewalk, curb and gutter, storm sewer, sanitary sewer, water main, and street
lighting. This project is a reconstruction of the existing Sixth Street from Main Street to Fond du
Lac Avenue. There will be minor adjustment to the profile and width of Sixth Street.

Oct. 27 to Oct. 31:
Work on sidewalks and drive approaches continues on 6

Lac Ave expected to open Friday, October 31.
Traffic impacts:

Sixth Street (US 45) is closed to through traffic.

Fond du Lac Avenue is closed at Sixth Street until project
completion.
Detour is: Northbound US 45 traffic west on County VV, to northbound WIS 175, to
US 45. The southbound US 45 detour will follow the reverse path of the northbound detour.

US 41, Scott Street Overpass
Schedule: April 2008 to July 2009
Description: The project involves asphaltic milling and resurfacing, drainage rehabilitation, the
installation of a median cable guard system, and replacement of the US 41/WIS 23 interchange.
Oct. 27 to Oct. 31: Grading, electrical installations, asphalt paving, guard rail, and pavement
marking will be installed on the westbound WIS 23 approaches and ramps. Permanent
pavement marking will be installed along US 41 from Scott Street to the north project limits.
NOTE: The Scott Street (County OOO) overpass will be closed Monday, October 20
through Friday, October 31.

Main Street from Merrill Avenue to Lakeside Park
Schedule: April 21, 2008 to October 31, 2008
Description: The project is one component included in the upgrade of the City water system. A
new raw water line is being constructed along Main Street from three City of Fond du Lac well
sites to the Merrill Avenue treatment facility. In conjunction, a new distribution main will replace
the aging existing line.
October 27 to October 31: Street restoration work continues on the southbound portion of
Main Street between Scott Street and Lakeside Park. Main Street concrete driveway approaches will be poured this week. The Contractor will continue installation of raw water main
on Bischoff Street west of Park Avenue. This portion of the project will continue west to Amory
Street, south to Bank Street and west to Main Street. Work will progress on this segment of
improvements over the next few weeks.
Traffic Impacts: Main Street traffic southbound out of Lakeside Park will remain detoured near
the lakefront at Frazier Drive, west to Doty Street until all pavement restoration is complete.

Superior Street, 9th Street to Tompkins Street
Schedule: July 28, 2008 to October 31, 2008
Description: Complete street reconstruction including water main, sanitary and storm sewer
and laterals, curb and gutter, asphalt street paving and lighting.
October 27 to October 31: All concrete and street lighting work will be completed; driveway
access will be lost for about one more week while the concrete gains strength. Fine grading
will be completed and asphalt paving is scheduled for mid-week. Project completion is
expected by mid- November.
Traffic Impacts: Superior Street will be closed to through traffic during the entire construction
project, local access only is allowed. The buses will be rerouted, detailed customer notice will
be provided on the bus route.

Second Street, Park Avenue to Vincent Street
Schedule: July 28, 2008 to October 31, 2008
Description: Complete street reconstruction including water main, storm sewer and laterals,
curb and gutter, asphalt street paving and lighting.
October 27 to October 31: Final surface paving is scheduled early in the week and will be
followed by landscaping terraces. Completion of this project is expected by November 7.
Traffic Impacts: Second Street will be closed to through traffic during the entire construction
project, local access only is allowed. The buses are rerouted, detailed customer notice will be
provided on the bus route.

Mihill Avenue from Pioneer Road to Camelot Drive
Schedule: September 10 to November 15, 2008
Description: Complete street reconstruction including, storm sewer and laterals, curb and
gutter, asphalt street paving and lighting.
October 27 to October 31: Grading and graveling are complete, sidewalk construction will
continue preceding curb and gutter construction. Driveway access will be lost for about three
weeks while concrete gains strength.
Traffic Impacts: Mihill Avenue will be closed to through traffic during the entire construction
project, local access only is allowed. Access for the businesses will be maintained at all times.

Hass Circle Pond Construction
Schedule: August 26 to June 1, 2009
Description: Detention pond expansion.
October 27 to October 31: Tree removal and Phase 1 grading and seeding is complete.
Earthmoving for the rest of the pond will continue and is scheduled to be complete in the fall.
Final seeding will be completed in spring 2009.
Traffic Impacts: Minor impacts are expected from truck traffic.

Sibley Street, from West of Military Road to Doty Street
Schedule: September 15, 2008 to November 14, 2008
Description: Complete street reconstruction including water main, sanitary and storm sewer
and laterals, curb and gutter, asphalt street paving and lighting.
October 27 to October 31: Excavation, grading and graveling are complete, curb and gutter
work will be completed this week. Driveway access will be lost for about three weeks while
concrete gains strength. Traffic Impacts: Sibley Street will be closed to through traffic during the entire construction
project, local access only is allowed. Business access will be maintained as required by the
owner.

Bischoff Street, from Wettstein Avenue to Weis Avenue
Schedule: October 6 to November 1, 2008
Description: Watermain relay and asphalt pavement restoration.
October 27 to October 31: Watermain relay is complete; work continues on laterals and will be
followed by concrete curb, sidewalk and pavement restoration. Project completion is expected
by mid- November.
Traffic Impacts: Bischoff Street will be closed to through traffic during the construction project,
local access only is allowed.

South Street, from Oak Street to the West
Schedule: October 6 to November 15, 2008
Description: Lift station replacement, storm sewer relay and turn-around construction.
October 27 to October 31: Lift station replacement is underway, storm sewer relay is
complete, excavation and grading should be completed this week followed by curb construction.
Traffic Impacts: Local access only is allowed west of Oak Street.

North Park Avenue Bridge at Promen Drive in Lakeside Park
Schedule: October 17 to November 15, 2008
Description: 1927 bridge deck and sidewalk overlay with concrete
October 27 to October 31: Milling deck is complete, further deck and sidewalk deterioration will
be removed and repaving will begin.
Traffic Impacts: The bridge will be closed for repairs and concrete curing for about three
