The IOKA Theater is actually two theaters, the Main Theater at street
level, and a grotto nightclub/theater below street level. Please make sure
you are reading the specifications for the room you are considering.
The Following is Related to Both Theaters
Parking
Parking located directly in front of building, can accommodate full size semi
with advance notice.
Parking for theater patrons is free of charge municipal parking. There is
parking for more than 500 cars
within a quarter mile of the building, with the majority of that figure being
the municipal lot directly
across form the theater and the Water St throughway. During evening hours
(after 7PM) the IOKA
is the only major business open in the historic district so the majority of
these spaces are available.
There is handicap parking available, near the front entrance of the IOKA
Safety
The IOKA is inspected annually and is licensed for public assembly for up
to 500 people including patrons, staff and performers.
The IOKA is also inspected occasionally throughout the year to insure all
safety systems are in working order.
The IOKA is equipped with several fire extinguishers throughout the
building as well as a 15 zone, central station alarm system.
The IOKA Main Theater is equipped with four exits from the main theater.
From the stage area to the fire escape,
from the balcony to the fire escape, and two from the main seating area to
the lobby.
The IOKA Lower Theater is equipped with three exits. A staircase leading to
the main upstairs lobby, a staircase leading directly to the street, and an exit
leading to the river.
Accessibility
Restrooms include Mens, Ladies and separate ADA all on Main Theater
level. Lower Theater features a Mens and Ladies room.
No ADA facilities exist in Lower Theater and lower theater requires stairs
for all entrances.
Main theater is ADA Accessible, one 4 inch curb, one 4 inch step to enter,
through 5 foot doorway.
There is handicap parking available near the front entrance of the building
Load In
All loading is done through the front public entrance of the building. There
is NO loading ramp. The IOKA is bound by the Exeter River to the rear of
the building and by commercial buildings on both sides.
There are (3) 5 foot wide doors used for load in. These doors are at street
level. There is a 4 inch curb. There is a sloped floor leading to the main
stage with two 3 wide aisles. There is a 30 inch lift to stage level.
The Club level can be loaded through the same front doors and then down a
5 foot wide flight of stairs that is 24 steps down. Smaller acts can load
through a 36 door at street level which goes down a 36 wide staircase that
has two turns.
Food Service
The IOKA offers a complete concessions counter as well as bar service in
both theaters. Bar service is limited
to those events having patrons 18+, anyone under the age of 21 must be
accompanied by a guardian over 21.
The IOKA cannot serve alcohol during an all ages event.

Ticketing & Box Office
The IOKA can arrange for ticketing and box office support for your event.
Cost is $200 for the package which includes
405 full color single stub tickets printed on white gloss stock
Box office sales of tickets prior to event during regular theater hours
Online ticketing provided by TicketWeb or Mkat ticketing
Phone order processing (available only through Ticketweb)
Staffing of box office night of event
Full reporting and accounting of event sales and costs. The IOKA does
impose a 3% fee on all tickets sold via our credit card machines. Details of
the costs for TicketWeb and Mkat are available upon request.
The IOKA highly recommends that people not completely familiar with box
office operations purchase the box office package. If the package is declined,
it is assumed that the customer will supply, sell, distribute their own tickets
as well as handle all cash and credit card processing during the event.
Security
The IOKA can provide your event security using off-duty police officers or
via a bonded security agency.

Main Theater Specifications
Seating
Main Theater seats 405 ,approx 180 seats are balcony level with remainder
on main floor.
All seats are new in the last two years, balcony seats are somewhat narrower
than main floor.
All seats have excellent sight lines, there are no obstructed view seats. There
is a 7 seat VIP seating area
in the balcony which is equipped with leather club chairs and has extensive
leg room. This area is often
sold at a premium price, given to media for promotion, etc.
Balcony is arranged as tiered seating, main floor is a slope floor.
All seating is general admission, however it is possible to section seating in
order to maximize ticket revenue. This can be done by offering a center
section (first 4 rows of main floor center section), main floor, balcony and
VIP.
Stage Specifications
Stage dimensions are 20 deep by 30 wide. The stage is approx 3 feet above
front row seats. Color of the stage is battleship blue/gray. Approx 50% of the
stage is behind the proscenium with the other half in front of the proscenium
(thrust).
The stage has two working curtains. A back stage two panel, hand draw
curtain and a another corded two panel curtain at the proscenium. Both
curtains are IFR Red Velour.
There is also a fly movie screen (Dalite) that can be raised and lowered by
rope. The screen is 27 wide by 14 high
Stage electrical includes (8) service outlets, 4 across stage front, 4 across
stage back. Each contains a single gang 110V outlet. Every (2) outlets are
dedicated to a 20AMP breaker. There is a master panel located stage left to
which a breakout can be connected. There are also another (2) quad gang
outlet boxes to a 20 AMP breaker below this panel.
Stage Risers The IOKA has (3) 4 x 8 stage risers, carpeted and draped.
Heights can be set to 8 or 16, risers can be joined together.
Wings Wing space is limited, however, for musical acts that require BOH,
there is an adequate BOH setup that can be used. Acts requiring extensive
wing space should ask for exact measurements.
Projection Capability
The Main theater is equipped with a 14 feet high by 27 feet wide projection
screen, the screen can be flown.
DVD projection is accomplished via (2) SONY DVD players capable of
reading DVD-R. Component video signal is fed
To a Mitsubishi LD5000 projector, capable of 4000 lumens. For wide screen
content the picture occupies the entire screen.
Video switching is accomplished via an Extron switcher.
4x3 aspect content is justified to wide screen, some distortion of content is
evident. This is of concern to some, and of no
concern to others. If you require exact projection of a 4x3 image on our
screen please contact us.
35mm content can be played using one of two Brenkert BX100 projectors.
One of these units is equipped with a three tier 48 Platter system and 4000
watt lamphouse, the other is equipped with a two reel cartridge and carbon
arc lighthouse. Both units are equipped with Reverse Scan LED soundheads.
16mm projection is possible with advance notice.
The video system can also be connected to a laptop computer for digital
presentation use.
Movie Sound System
The Main Theater offers a complete Dolby surround sound system, decoded
by a Dolby CP650. The in-house PA system is used for Left/Right/Center
and Sub, surround speakers are JBLs powered by QSC amplifiers.
