SPECIAL EVENT FACILITIES
Yerba Buena Center for the Arts is a private, nonprofit organization that presents its
own arts programs and offers its facilities for rent. As its mission, the center showcases
art and entertainment reflecting the San Francisco Bay Areas diverse cultures. Local,
national and international artists are represented. State-of-the-art facilities are available
for performances, meetings, receptions, screenings and special events.
Galleries & Forum Building: The large, two-story Grand Lobby serves as the main entrance
to the Galleries, Forum, Screening Room and administrative offices. Event planners may
utilize the lobby for mid-size receptions and special events or may combine it with the
Forum and/or Screening Room for larger activities.
Forum: 6,700 square feet of flexible special events space. Full theatrical lighting, sound
and audiovisual support. Abundant natural light with black-out capability, dressing rooms
and sprung wood floor.
Screening Room: 92-seat venue for film and video screenings. 16mm film, 35mm film
and 35mm slide projection systems; 3/4" and VHS multisystem video; automated audio
and lighting control.
Theater: 757 seats; proscenium style. Full lighting, sound and audiovisual support;
50 counterweighted line sets with grid at 71'. Stage: 44' proscenium; 93' wide (wall to
wall) x 43' deep (with additional 38' x 38' upstage area); sprung wood floor, orchestra pit
lift, and backstage dressing rooms.

Polshek and Partners, the two-building
complex overlooks the Esplanade of Yerba
Buena Gardens, a five-acre downtown park
that encompasses terrace cafes, outdoor
performance areas and a walk-through waterfall
memorializing Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
