Shuttle Bus To Operate in Tandem with Transit Buses Affected by
James A. Farley Memorial Bridge Weight Restriction
POMONA Effective tomorrow, Wednesday, August 27, Coach USA (Rockland Coaches) will begin
operating a shuttle bus along Route 9W between Elm Avenue in Tomkins Cove and the Stony Point
Park & Ride facility at Washburn Lane. The shuttle bus will meet with scheduled bus service on the
Transport of Rockland (TOR) #94 as well as the Coach USA (Rockland Coaches) #47, #49 and #9. The
shuttle bus will operate Monday through Saturday between 5:22 a.m. and 8:38 p.m. and will serve the
portion of these bus service schedules interrupted by the Farley Bridge weight restrictions, including
scheduled stops at Main Street in Stony Point.
Passengers should look for a white and green, 20-passenger minibus, which will have signage
indicating it is the Stony Point Bridge Shuttle. The shuttle bus service is being funded by the New York
State Department of Transportation (NYS DOT) in conjunction with its Farley Bridge reconstruction
project.
NYS DOT has placed a 10-ton weight limit on the bridge along with signalized, alternating one-way
traffic. Delays approaching the bridge are expected as traffic adjusts to this new pattern. Passengers on
the TOR #94 and the Coach USA (Rockland Coaches) #47, #49 and #9 may experience minor delays
as scheduled buses at the Washburn Lane Park & Ride will wait for the shuttle bus connections prior to
departure. On September 1 the weight restriction will be lifted, but the bridge will remain in an
alternating one-way traffic configuration. The shuttle bus will operate until further notice.
The shuttle bus will serve weekday trips on the TOR #94 that depart from and arrive at Elm Avenue in
Tomkins Cove at 7:28, 8:28, and 11:28 a.m., and at 2:28, 5:28 and 6:28 p.m. Saturday trips served are
the same, with the exception of the 7:28 am trip to and from Elm Avenue, which does not operate on
Saturdays.
The shuttle bus will serve weekday trips on the Coach USA (Rockland Coaches) #47 and #49 that
depart from Elm Avenue at 5:22, 5:59, 6:45 and 7:37 a.m., and trips that arrive at Elm Avenue at 7:07,
7:25 and 8:40 p.m.
The shuttle bus will also serve weekday trips on the Coach USA (Rockland Coaches) #9 that depart
from Elm Avenue at 5:59 and 6:48 a.m., and trips that arrive at Elm Avenue at 7:05 and 7:59 p.m.
