1 THE CHAIRWOMAN: I'd like to call
2 the hearing to order. Let's start with the pledge to
3 the flag.
4 (Whereupon, all pledged allegiance
5 to the flag.)
6 - - -
7 THE CHAIRWOMAN: I'd like to thank
8 you all for coming out this evening, and I will turn
9 the meeting over to our moderator, Mr. Grabowski.
10 MR. GRABOWSKI: Thank you, Betty.
11 Good evening, everybody.
12 This is our fifth hearing in the
13 matter of H & K. I think at the last meeting we had
14 finished up with the testimony of Mr. Ross, and I think
15 we pretty well completed all the questions and answers
16 at that point. We adjourned very late that night.
17 Fortunately, the air conditioner isn't set at 52 as it
18 was at the last meeting.
19 A couple of housekeeping rules.
20 There is another meeting taking place here at 7:30.
21 The Park and Recreation Board is going to be meeting at
22 the back conference room. So if anybody is here for
23 that a half hour early, that meeting will be back
24 there.
25 The second thing I want to mention
HAINES & ASSOCIATES COURT REPORTING (215) 721-2221

1 is that I guess everybody is aware of what is going on
2 in New York and other states surrounding Pennsylvania.
3 We are very fortunate that we don't have a problem here
4 with the electric. This building is on a generator.
5 So if the lights should flicker, a generator will come
6 on. We'll have lights; however, I would think at that
7 point just for the sake of appropriateness we would
8 probably adjourn and let everybody go home. Some of
9 you have children at home or relatives and friends at
10 home who would not have electricity. I think we're
11 going to be okay. Everybody says Pennsylvania is
12 insulated from what's going on; but in case that
13 happens we'll adjourn the meeting and pick up next
14 time, which is next Thursday, August 21st, here at
15 7 o'clock.
16 I understand, if my memory serves
17 me correct, Mr. Ober, we were going to move on to a new
18 witness tonight. Unless anyone has any other
19 housekeeping rules, we'll proceed.
20 MR. OBER: I'd like to begin by
21 apologizing to the board and to members of the audience
22 for my condition at the last hearing. I hope I didn't
23 spread too many germs and make too many of you sick.
24 Unfortunately, somebody had to be here, and I got to be
25 the lucky fellow.

1 Frank, I have not quite finished
2 with John. We're moving to a new phase of John, but we
3 have not finished with John.
4 So, John, would you like to
5 proceed?
6 MR. GRABOWSKI: Excuse me, one
7 last thing, because I know I'll forget. There was open
8 discussion at the last hearing about the possibility of
9 a tour of the quarry sites, and I think there was going
10 to be some discussion from last time until tonight
11 about a possible date. Has anything been done to that
12 regard that we should announce tonight?
13 MR. KIBBLEHOUSE: We will have
14 that by the end of the meeting tonight.
15 MR. GRABOWSKI: Okay, fine.
16 MR. OBER: For the record, that
17 was Jack Kibblehouse.
