Liner Ads. We accept a daily feed of your liner ads. The liner ads are interspersed with online-generated ads so your customers receive the broadest possible distribution on their listing. Display Ads. We accept Harvest and Travidia display ad feeds. The display ads are interspersed with online-generated ads for maximum exposure. We can accept display feeds from other vendors as well. Banner Slots. You host your top banner (in your header file) and we provide an additional sky-scraper banner ad slot (entire right column of page) along with a footer ad block designed to accept your ad call scripts. Import Your Users. Using a self-serve panel, you can upload your existing user base to make transition to the Kaango market easy for your existing customers. Customized Self-Serve Data Exports. We boast the most powerful, automated export service in the classifieds sector. You can create unlimited export maps that take any piece of data from our system and translate the selected fields into the field names of the destination platforms. You can export against any enhancement, allowing you to create custom feeds consisting only of ads that possess that enhancement. Customized Self-Serve Data Imports. Set up your imports any way you'd like. Create unlimited scheduled imports or trigger instant imports as needed. Customize your imports to accept liners or display feeds. Imports can include start and stop dates, photos, html, etc. Go Anywhere Widgets. Design on-the-fly script snippets to place on any Website and display ads from your market (including thumbnails). You can configure each script to pull ads based on a number of criteria, including, enhancement, category, ad type, date published, etc. Customized Enhancements. In addition to "native" enhancements (like bold, featured placement, extended duration, etc.), each property can create its own custom enhancements on the fly in less than a minute. Each enhancement can be enabled or disabled by category. Kaango Classifieds ­ p. 3 Custom Categories. You pick the top level categories that you want your newspaper to display in its classifieds area. Integration with Your Vertical Partners. Our management tools allow you to select individual shopping categories and provide an "alternate URL" that links specific categories to your partner's Website. You can also choose whether to allow users to post ads on your site (destined for the vertical) or provide a link directly to the vertical partner's ad posting page. This functionality works great in areas like real estate where you want to provide access to robust commercial real estate listings (which may run in your classifieds section but not on your vertical partner's site) while allowing you to link to your partner with MLS feeds. SuperFlex Pricing. You can select general site-wide pricing for insertions and enhancements or set prices unique to individual categories, with different price brackets for private and commercial listings. If a category has no pricing defined, it "inherits" the pricing attributes of its parent. Prices are configurable for each newspaper in your group. Pricing Bundles. You can create unlimited time-bounded pricing bundles for any category and any type of seller (commercial or private). This allows you to run holiday and other types of promotions that offer different baskets of upgrades and pricing. Coupon Codes. You may assign an unlimited number of coupon codes to any bundle you create and decide whether to make the bundle visible before the user enters the code. This feature gives you great flexibility in setting up public and private promotions that key off of a code that you disemminate. Commercial Account Credits. You may accept payment (or not) and issue an account credit to any user (typically, it's a commercial advertiser) and the user can use the account credits against any cost on the site. Instead of having to deal with a specified number of ads per month per customer, you simply flood the advertiser's account with credit and allow them to dictate the usage of their account. Custom Run Duration by Category. You can specify different default run periods for ads posted in different categories. For example, you could make it so that garage sale ads run for 2 days (by default) while auto ads run for 7 days by default. K.A.B.O.O.M. The KABOOM (Kaango Advertiser Block On Other Media) tool permits you to determine where your ads are published and which of our partners can publish ads to your site. Source Credit. Since your newspaper's listings appear on every site in the Kaango Network, your paper's name and Website are displayed on every ad that originated from your paper or online marketplace. Credit Card Processing. You select the payment gateway and give us the codes. We process transactions directly into your designated account. If you don't have an account, we can process the transactions and remit proceeds to you monthly. Kaango Classifieds ­ p. 4 Your Chosen Sub-Domain Name. Pick any name (provided it's not taken) and we can provide your market with the domain (e.g. yourpaper.kaango.com). Page Tracking. Customers can enhance and upgrade their liner ads from your Website. All you need to do is include the advertiser's email address in your liner ad feed and we do the rest. When we import your feed, if the user is already in our system, his ad will be immediately accessible for editing from his "My Account" interface. The user will be sent a reminder that his ad just went online and that he may edit it from his "My Account" screen. If the user is new to the system, he will be automatically sent an email with an "invitation to upgrade or administer" his ad. The email will include the user's login information to enable complete ad management and enhancement (e.g. featuring, photos, longer run periods etc.). Your CSR's need no training and they do not have to re-enter or copy and paste the customer's ad into another interface. We do all the heavy lifting on our side. WEB-2-PRINT
Works with Current Print Vendor. If you currently work with a reverse publishing vendor, Kaango's system overlays right on top, offering users a choice between "online only" and "online & print" options, with the latter linking off to one or more URL's from which the user can post a print ad. Integrated Kaango W2P Solution. Kaango offers a Web-2-Print system that allows you to set font characteristics, line prices and packages to accurately price liner ads coming from our system. We can either export ads (via XML) destined for any front end system or you can pluck ads from the queue, mark their status and enter into the front end system manually (some papers like this as a transition strategy pending the completion of an import script to handle Kaango's XML output). Finding and Saving Items
Power Browsing with Intelligent Filters. As users drill into shopping categories, they will see intelligent filters specific to the category they are browsing. For example, when browsing dogs, users will be able to instantly filter by breed, gender and age. In addition, users may overlay filters for date posted, private vs. commercial and ZIP radius. Maps & Routing. Kaango has partnered with MapQuest to bring each of Kaango's partners integrated map functionality throughout the search and ad display processes. Users can also select ads and create a point-to-point route map. Shopping Lists. On the browsing pages the user sees a thumbnail, product title, newspaper source, ad views, price and seller detail. By mousing over native online ad titles users get an instant "tooltip" box that shows, shipping limits, number of offers and questions on the item and the seller's location. Smart Categories. Our categories are intelligently designed to permit easy "drill down" searches into more than 1,000 categories. Kaango Classifieds ­ p. 6 Zero-Boundary Search. Unlike Craigslist, the Kaango system does not force users into geographic silos when searching for listings. The property can set the site so that visitors see ONLY ads from that property. Users are free, however, to select the "all sources" option and view ads from throughout the network. Users can bound their result sets by ZIP code radius or see every ad listed on our entire network of newspaper sites. By default, you can set a "central" zip code and radius for all guests. That way, your property's ads display first. If the user wants to expand the search radius at any time he can. Advanced Search. Users can search for items using an advanced search tool that allows pivots on radius, product type, keyword, item condition, ad type, private vs. commercial, price range and more. Our proprietary scoring system returns results ordered by relevancy. Using the adNatureTM technology, matches to different listing attributes return different scores based on how important that attribute is to the listing category. For example, a match of "35 CC" to our engine field in boat ads would return a high score, whereas a match of "motor" would not. Quick Search. Each page on the site has a "Quick Search" box at the top of the page that allows an easy keyword search of the current category or entire site. AJAX-Powered Clip List. Using the latest technology, the Kaango system allows users to click and add items to their clip list with no page refreshes. Once on their clip list, users can create a print-friendly version that allows them to see all of their selected ads and descriptions in one place. This feature is great for garage sale shoppers. Wish List. The Kaango Wish List service allows users to specify combinations of listing categories and keywords in order to receive notices when new ads matching their combinations are posted on your site. Users can elect to receive notices from either the local paper or from all network partners. In addition, users can choose whether to receive a daily notice of all ads posted that match their wish list or a notice each time a matching ad is posted. Contextual Discussions with Experts. On every shopping page, there is a "Discussion" tab that permits users to post discussion items within the category they are shopping. Users can exchange information in this forum-style area and post opinions, recommendations and advice as they please. The section is moderated. To help properties promote traffic in this area, each property may assign "expert" status in particular categories to any user. Once a user has "expert" status, posts they make in their category of expertise are denoted with a yellow star, which indicates that they are an expert in that category. We encourage properties to solicit subject matter experts in order to generate return visits and new traffic to their market. Kaango Classifieds ­ p. 7 Easy-to-Use Ad Displays
adNatureTM Displays. With Kaango's proprietary adNatureTM technology, users are no longer relegated to long text descriptions in the online ads they are viewing. With adNatureTM display technology, shoppers can tab through specs, details, and other attributes unique to the subject matter of the listing. For example, when browsing a boat ad, the user will see a "Specs" tab which provides a bullet-list of specifications and features for the boat. On a residential real estate ad, the user would see tabs detailing construction features, community attributes, agent information and more. adNaturesTM can vary even within the same parent category. For example a residential real estate ad will display completely different attributes from a commercial real estate ad or a residential rental ad. No other provider of online classifieds offers this capability. Consistent Layout. Each ad listing originated on the site has a consistent layout so shoppers instantly know where to look for key listing details such as quantity, shipping information, payment details etc. Linked Source Credit. On each listing display, there is a hyperlink to the newspaper from which the listing originated. Shopper's Control Panel. Each ad listing originated on the site has a "control panel" located in the upper left portion of the screen. Each ad listing originated on the site displays a featured photo with thumbnails below it which shoppers may click to change the featured photo. Within each ad originated on the site there is a mini "discussion board" that allows buyers and the seller to exchange information. The discussion board gives sellers a way to avoid answering redundant questions. Snapshot Panel. Each ad contains a "Snapshot Panel" adjacent to the main photo that contains information unique to the subject matter of the listing. The Snapshot Panel varies based on the type of listing because what is deemed important varies with the subject matter of the ad (e.g. in a dog ad, the breed is called out in the panel whereas in a residential real estate listing, the number of bedrooms, number of bathrooms and square footage is called out, among other things). Each ad listing originated on the site has a "Seller's Details" block, which contains information about the seller, including location, ratings within the market, join date, the number of ads the seller has placed in the system and links to other items for sale by that seller. Transaction Details. Each ad listing originated on the site has a "Transaction Details" block, which contains the listing party's location. Structured and Safe Buying
Firm Offer Tools. Kaango provides a structured system of offer and acceptance ­ the heart of any good sale transaction. In our system, buyers make firm offers that are subject to three actions by the seller: (1) Outright acceptance, (2) Outright rejection and (3) Rejection with an invitation to make another offer along terms specified by the seller. The offer and acceptance structure keeps an indisputable online record of the transaction in case of disagreements in the future. More often than not, its mere presence prevents conflicts between the parties over deal terms. Offer Tracking. Every buyer has a "My Account" area which tracks all items on which they have offers. Using this interface, the buyer can withdraw offers, rate sellers, pay for items through PayPal or re-visit the listing if the item has not been sold. Public or Private Questions. Questions posed by would-be buyers are made through a private tool that protects the seller's privacy. The buyer may choose to pose the question privately to the seller or publish it in the ad's mini discussion board. In all cases, correspondence through the question system ensures that a record is kept for future reference and in case of a dispute. Closed Loop Ratings & Feedback. Because our system "knows" when an item has been marked "sold" to another member, it can create invitations between the parties to rate one another in the transaction. Not only does this provide valuable feedback for individuals who may transact business with these parties at a later date, but it also prevents spamming of the rating system by limiting the privilege to only those parties who have conducted business with one another. Complaint Queue. In addition to ratings, individuals who have conducted business with one another may also elevate complaints to our moderator staff through a complaint queue. Report to Moderator. Every ad has a "Report to Moderator" link which allows members to help police the content on the site. Reports are easy to make and allow our moderators to hone in on inappropriate or offensive ads. Quick & Intelligent Ad Posting
adNatureTM Ad Posting. Ads for announcements are different from ads for products or employment ads. Our system knows the difference between ad types and provides the seller an ad posting form that requests information relevant to the type of listing they are creating. The system is infinitely expandable. As partners or users request new and different attributes for ads in different categories, we can create them instantly into our ad posting, searching and display pages. No other provider offers this capability. AJAX-Enabled Post Form. Using the latest technology, our ad posting form uses AJAX technology to query the user as to details relevant to their ad. Using the new adNature technology created by Kaango, the user is not required to respond to or even view fields unless those fields are relevant to the category in which the user is posting. WYSIWYG Editor. Sellers can make use of a "what you see is what you get" editor to create professional appearing ad descriptions. As simple to use as a word processor, the editor gives sellers more power to move their stuff. Automated Photo Features. Users can upload photos easily and our system will resize them and create thumbnails on the fly. Users can select which photo they wish to feature in the ad. Lowball ShieldTM. User selling products can input the lowest acceptable offer price they will consider. When someone attempts to make an offer for less, they are politely instructed to make a higher offer but are not given the seller's lowest acceptable price. Enhancements. Users may select from a menu of ad enhancements to help them sell their item or service faster. My Ads. Each seller has a "My Ads" section of their "My Account" area, which allows them to edit, clone, renew, cancel or mark "sold" an ad. The "My Ads" page also alerts the seller when a new offer or question has been made and allows them to view and administer all pending offers and questions. Invoicing Tool. Following the sale of an item, the seller may create an email invoice using the Invoice Tool. The invoice tool allows for the calculation of tax, shipping and total price. In addition, the invoice tool can create an instant "Pay me by PayPal" link if the seller has a PayPal account. Full Accounting. Each seller has an account statement that itemizes the purchases made on the system, including those where no fee was charged. This feature gives sellers confidence and control over their account.
