MPI MX-9500 FAILSAFE UNIT
ature: 23° F ~ 140° F
FUNCTIONS:
Automatically generate failsafe signal to drive servo to preset position,
when interference is detected,
when no signal from receiver is detected,
when receiver battery drop below 4.0 volts,
Active indicator will lite up when failsafe mode is on,
Servo failsafe position can be preset by adjusting failsafe signal.
INSTALLATION & SETUP:
1. MX-9500 comes with a universal connection system. It can be used with systems equipped with
Futaba J, Hitec, JR, and Airtronics Z connectors. DO NOT force MX-9500 to connect with systems
with KO and old Airtronics plugs. Exchange adapters are required to make proper connection with
old Airtronics systems
2. Turn on your radio system and make sure that everything is functioning properly,
3. Plug the MX-9500 to the proper channel of the receiver, then connect the servo to the MX-9500,
4. Turn off the transmitter and make sure that the active indicator illuminates to show failsafe mode is on,
5. Use a small flat screw driver to turn the adjustment trim on the MX-9500 to set the failsafe point,
6. Turn the transmitter on again, now the system is back to normal operation mode and the setup
procedure is completed.
ATTENTION
The MX-9500 Fail Safe is designed to work with nicad receiver battery pack. When using with alkaline
rx packs, it may activate prematurely due to temporary voltage depression of the alkaline cells. Voltage
depression occurs when alkaline cells can not deliver the power demanded by the servos. This may
due to the depletion of the cell or, simply, the current is too high for the cell. This voltage drop may
trigger the MX-9500 into fail safe mode. To avoid the problem, alkaline cells should be replaced when
weak or, better, replace the alkaline rx pack with nicad rx pack.
