KSC is the optimum solution for the mains
disturbances described in standard IEC 1000-2-2. Slow voltage fluctuations . Overvoltages resulting from lightning or work on MV network. Harmonic and inter-harmonic voltage distortions . Construction

KSC is a dynamic mains conditioner suitable for low and
medium voltage comprising : A brush-less synchronous machine A starting system A special three-phase choke A power electrical cabinet A control and regulation electrical cabinet
The unit is built on a rigid, vibration-proof frame and, as an option,
integrated in a soundproof enclosure.
Operating principle
The

Cleanwave
®
KSC is fully automatic and requires no tuning. It is
operated with only one 3-position control button : "Off" - "By-Pass" - "On".
In "By-Pass" mode, C1 and C2 are open whilst C3 feeds the load. When
turned on, the KSC is automatically synchronised to the mains, C1 and C2
are closed and C3 is opened.
In normal condition, the
Cleanwave
®
KSC acts as a synchronous
compensator, supplying the reactive power consumed by the load and
regulating the voltage at load terminals.
Facing disturbances, thanks to its optimised conception (specific choke
and synchronous machine) associated with high quality control and
regulation devices, the
Cleanwave
®
KSC shows excellent permanent and
transient performance , as described in the following paragraph.

Performance The
Cleanwave
®
KSC mains conditioner filters the voltage harmonics
coming from the mains. It reduces rejection to the mains of harmonic and inter-harmonic
currents generated by non linear loads. It maintains a constant voltage at the load terminals and corrects slow
voltage fluctuations of the mains within a range of
±
15%. Thanks to its optimised ER2 regulation card, the
Cleanwave
®
KSC
maintains a constant voltage on the load during significant transient
voltage drop-outs and short interruptions (independently of mains
short-circuit power). Thanks to its low sub-transient reactance, high current peaks (up to 20 x
FLC) can be supplied, ensuring easy discrimination of protections located
downstream of the system, starting of motors, etc. with a limited impact
on the mains . The
Cleanwave
®
KSC automatically supplies the reactive current
consumed by the load and consequently raises the cos to a value
close to 1 without need for capacitor banks. The
Cleanwave
®
KSC has an excellent efficiency (greater than 97% for
300kVA type). The active power is supplied by the mains without flowing
through the synchronous machine, which only supplies the reactive
power. Like any synchronous machine, several
Cleanwave
®
KSC can easily be
connected in parallel, which means unlimited power, more flexibility
(adaptation to load evolution) and possible redundant systems. The
Cleanwave
®
KSC can be easily adapted to Medium Voltage mains.
