. For a limited number of fields, which are identified
in the individual field rules, advanced degrees are required and in some cases holding a specified
state or national credential may also result in a Clear Renewable certificate; and
1. For some certificate fields, state-approved programs are limited in number or restricted in
geographic location making it difficult to meet the hiring needs of all school systems. For these
specific situations, as determined by the Commission on a case-by-case basis, the PSC shall
maintain a process for establishing specific course work requirements to add the field based on a
transcript review of PSC prescribed courses.

Clear Renewable certificates may be issued for all types and all fields. A list of fields is
maintained on the PSC web site at
www.gapsc.com

(4) The Clear Renewable certificate is valid for 5 years, with the following exceptions:
(a) Former Georgia Educators or out-of-state certificate holders who do not meet all Special
Georgia Requirements may, at the request of an employing Georgia school system, be issued a 5-
year Non-renewable Professional certificate. All requirements must be completed during this time
frame, and upon completion the educator may apply for the appropriate renewable certificate.
(b)
Former Georgia educators who have not met standard renewal requirements may, at the
request of an employing Georgia school system, be issued a 1-year Non-renewable Professional
certificate. All requirements must be completed during that time frame and upon completion the
educator may apply for the appropriate Clear Renewable certificate. The new Clear Renewable
certificate will be issued for four years to complete the established 5-year cycle.
