Chapter 1
Windows Terminal Services (WTS) For Macintosh Overview
An OHSU Windows Terminal Services (WTS) account allows a user to remotely access OHSU network
resources, such as core applications and network volumes, over an Internet connection. A typical OHSU
WTS customer utilizes this technology to access files on the OHSU network (such as those on users home
directory or shared departmental network drive), access clinical applications (including Epic, LCRWeb,
and Electronic Medical Records Completion), or run core OHSU Desktop applications (Microsoft Word
2003, Microsoft Excel 2003, Microsoft PowerPoint 2003, and Novell GroupWise for Windows 6.5).
The WTS access uses a web-based login portal to authenticate access to the system. Customers must
provide her or his own Internet connection, preferably a high-speed DSL or cable setup, in order to connect
to WTS.
A WTS account is a special network access that must be requested by the users department. ITG will grant
WTS access for a customer based on legitimate business needs of the customer and her or his department.
Due to security reasons and limited network resources, WTS access is not automatically given to every
OHSU network account.
ITG provides WTS installation and configuration support for Macintosh computers running Macintosh OS
10.1 or newer, and using the Apple Safari web browser. Earlier versions of Macintosh operating systems
are not supported. ITG cannot guarantee compatibility with web browsers other than Apple Safari (such as
Mozilla Firefox, Microsoft Internet Explorer, Netscape Navigator, AOL browser, or Opera browser).
Chapter 2

The Citrix ICA Client can be downloaded and installed from the Citrix web site
(
http://www.citrix.com/English/SS/downloads/details.asp?dID=2755&downloadID=3250&pID=186
).
Customers using Macintosh workstations connected to the OHSU network may also install the Citrix ICA
Client from the network drive CAS2.
This chapter assumes that you are logged into a Macintosh OS 10.4.x computer with an Administrator
account. If you are installing the Citrix ICA Client under a Standard or Managed account, please refer to
Appendix A (Installing the ICA Client on a Non-Administrator Account) for additional installation
instructions and caveats.
