iSpin-NMR
I. Introduction
Product Overview
The iSpin-NMR
TM
is SpinCore's complete Personal NMR system. Built around the
RadioProcessor board and SpinCore's NMR software, once connected to a probe the iSpin-NMR is
instantly ready to perform NMR experiments from 0 to 100 MHz
(1)
!
Primary Components:
1. iSpin-NMR System Console
: Contains SpinCore's USB RadioProcessor board and a power
amplifier. The iSpin-NMR generates the NMR excitation pulses, amplifies them, and then
acquires data from the probe, performing digital detection, filtering and signal averaging
autonomously.
2. Probe Interface Box
: Contains the Transmit/Receive switch and NMR signal input pre-
amplifier. The Probe Interface Box also contains a lambda-quarter cable cut to the proper
length.
3. Interface Laptop
(Optional)
: Ready out-of-the-box to conduct your NMR Experiments. All
necessary tools and software are installed.
4. Installed Software
: SpinAPI, Felix for Windows, SpinCore's NMR GUI, fully configured
MingW Compiler with IDE ready to compile SpinAPI based programs.

Other Components:
1. Probe Interface Cable Bundle
: Connects the iSpin-NMR system console with the Probe
Interface Box. Contains two coaxial cables with BNC connectors for RF signals and
one cable equipped with DB-9 connectors to power the pre-amplifier in the Probe
Interface Box.
Connection Diagram
The Figure 1.2, below, depicts the typical connecting diagram. The cable bundle between the
iSpin-NMR system and the Probe Interface Box is provided. The AC input is universal, from 90 V
to 240 Volts. The impedance of the Probe port of the Probe Interface Box is 50 ohm. The USB
protocol is 2.0, and USB cable is provided with the system.

iSpin-NMR
iSpin-NMR Operation Description
The iSpin-NMR is designed to be simple, intuitive and effective. The following is an outline
of how the iSpin-NMR operates.
1. The user inputs the necessary parameters into SpinCore's NMR GUI or alternative
software program.
2. When the user begins the scan, the iSpin-NMR generates the NMR excitation pulses
depending on the input parameters.
3. During specific intervals in the pulse sequence (typically after the excitation pulse in a
single-pulse NMR experiment), the system will acquire the data returned from the
sample in the sample probe. The iSpin-NMR system digitizes the signal and performs
digital detection, filtering, and autonomous signal averaging. The processed digital
values are stored on chip and are available for download to the host computer at user's
convenience.
4. The Probe Interface Box automatically switches between the excitation pulses and the
signal input from the probe. The input signal from the sample probe is passed through a
lambda-quarter cable (part of the Transmit/Receive switching circuit), fed into a pre-
amplifier, and then presented to the iSpin-NMR for digitization and digital signal
processing.
5. The system continues to scan the specified number of times, automatically averaging
the values stored on chip for each scan.
6. The user can download the data received from the RadioProcessor at any time using
SpinCore's NMR GUI or alternative software program.
7. NMR data are saved on the host computer in three different formats, including ASCII
(plain text file) and JCAMP-DX, for post-acquisition processing.
For more detailed description of system operation, please consult the section Conducting an
NMR Experiment with iSpin-NMR in this Manual.
