Entergy Tests New
Indian Point Siren System
Thursday, Feb. 15, 2007
Entergy will test the new Indian Point emergency
alert notification sirens twice in Westchester,
Rockland, Orange and Putnam counties on Thursday,
Feb. 15 between 10:30 a.m. and 12 p.m. WHUD Radio (100.7 FM) will test the
Emergency Alert System immediately following the siren tests. These are the first
in a series of siren tests occurring over the next few months.
During the both tests, all 150 sirens will sound simultaneously at full-volume
for about four minutes. Testing of an individual siren in each county will occur
during this period.
NO RESPONSE ON THE PART OF THE PUBLIC IS NECESSARY
DURING THE FEB. 15 TESTS.
In an emergency at Indian Point, the counties sound all sirens simultaneously
for four minutes at full-volume, alerting the public to tune to their local
Emergency Alert System (EAS) radio or TV station for important information.
Sounding the sirens is a signal for residents to listen to Emergency Alert System
broadcasts for important information. The EAS stations are listed in the booklet
Community Emergency Planning for Indian Point: A Guide for You and
Your Family.
