Various powders have been used in the manufacturing process in
the wire and cable industry since the inception of insulated wire.
Talc is used to reduce tackiness of cable jackets and also increa-
ses flexibility and control stripability characteristics of flexible
cord and other cables. Cable-Coating-System/' >Superabsorbent powders (SAP) limit the
ingress and migration of water through power, fiber optic, co-axial
and other cables. ECC 700 systems are an ideal solution for coa-
ting cables with these powders.
To meet specific needs, the ECC 700 system can be configured
with different types of spray guns, spray chambers with various
gun configurations and options such as air dryer, powder flow
control unit, or automatic refill hopper.
Controllable powder coating process
The control modules of the ECC 700 allow precise control of
important process parameters, ensuring high, reproducible
coating quality. To create an even powder coating, the ECC 700
system uses electrostatic charge. Two types of spray guns with
different charging principles are available to ensure the best
performance with each powder type. Tribomatic® charging
results from friction between the powder and the inner surface of
the spray gun. Versa® spray guns use the corona process to
charge the powder particles with ions from a high voltage source.
The powder is fluidized, charged and sprayed onto the cable.
Nordson powder pumps maintain an adjustable, even flow of
powder to obtain the desired coating thickness.
Closed loop powder recovery system for
application efficiency and clean environment
Automatic self-cleaning filter cartridges (patent pending)
separate the powder from the air and ensure that only clean air is
blown into the factory. The recovered powder is returned into the
hopper to be reused.
