refrigerator in a sealed container with a packet of silica gel to keep
them dry. Moisture condensing on the terminals can corrode them. At
room temperature battery power loss is less than 3% a year. But in
warm weather it is much higher. If you use a lot of batteries consider
using rechargeables to reduce the waste generated.
Lithiums and NiCds may not be usable in all camera and flash units.
Check manufacturers manual New 1.5-volt high energy lithiums hold
great promise. They have a long shelf life, are light weight, and
should do better in cold weather.
