Team Manager Information

Congratulations on electing to become the "Manager" for your competitive soccer
team.  Many people step up to this role with varying degrees of
expectation of just exactly what this responsibility has in store for
them.  There are many reasons why some people step up proudly and
assume this Manager's role, and there are just as many reasons why others
jump back and avoid this responsibility like the plague.  The bottom
line that transcends all these reasons is that you are doing it for
the kids.  As long as this is the ultimate reason for taking on
this role, you will do a fabulous job and others around you will thank
you in the end.

Very often it is the Manager that is seen as the
person who is setting the tone for the team and not the coach/trainer.
It is the Manager that has to wear the multiple hats of administration,
liaison, cheerleader, and of course a parent.  If all of these
hats can be worn interchangeably in such a way that you look organized,
calm, collected, and can always present a positive attitude, then you
will have a successful season because your kids and parents will be
happy knowing you have everything under control.  Our job as a
league is to provide you with the tools and procedures to help make
this happen so that your job as a Manager will be as rewarding to you
as you are going to be making it for the kids.

When you take on the role of Manager for your team,
there are some basic items that you will find necessary to efficiently
perform this function.  First off, you will need to put together
your own "Manager's Book".
This will become the "Key" to making your job as Manager a
successful one.  You will need to carry this book with you at all
times (practices, games, and tournament check-ins). There are also some
items that you will need in addition to your Manager's Book to be successful
as a team manager.

Below is an initial compilation of the various items/tasks
that you will most likely need to handle the role of Team Manager for
your competitive soccer team.  This is NOT a comprehensive list
of everything a Manager needs to know.  This is a document that
will be modified over time with input from existing Managers such as
you with information that you feel should be passed along.  This
document serves to collect and then pass on to these "New"
managers that step up to undertake this responsibility for their team,
and are looking for an initial source of information to help guide them
along their way.

The club will provide many of the items listed here
to you.  Some of the items are included here strictly as guidelines
to help you perform the responsibilities of the position, and to communicate
effectively with the parents, trainer, players, and the Carlsbad Lightning
Soccer Club.

GENERAL INFORMATION:

Presidio is the league in which we play our seasonal soccer games.
The Carlsbad Lightning Soccer Club has an individual who acts as our Representative
to this league, and attends monthly meetings where they receive and
pass along pertinent information.

The Presidio League has their own website (http://www.presidiosoccerleague.com)
which contains everything related to the Presidio League: General Information,
Policies, Game Schedules, Rules, and eventually the scores for every
team in the Presidio League.  The individual competitive game brackets
(known as Circuits in the Presidio League) are all linked from the main
web page. These can be found by clicking the "Game Information"
button.

RED Cards -- Red cards are part of the soccer realm.  We hope that players/trainers/managers
from our club do not receive these, but in the event that one of your
players does in fact receive a red card, there are some steps that you
as the Manager need to be aware of.  The duration of the suspension
for the red card infraction depends on the "Class of Infraction"
as reported by the Referee on the game card, and as interpreted by the
Presidio Board.  These Classes our spelled out in great detail
on the Presidio League's

website so you won't see a copy of this information here.

YELLOW cards -- Yellow cards (known as Cautions) are also part
of the soccer realm, and are far more common to be received by a player/trainer/manager
as these are usually less severe in nature. However, there is a point
that needs to be realized regarding receiving multiple Yellow cards
in a single Presidio League soccer season. If a player or administrator
receives four cautions during the season, he shall not participate in
his next Presidio game. Presidio considers 4-yellow cards to be the
equivalent of 1-Red Card (Class I) for punishment purposes.

Red/Yellow Cards and Points -- There is a cumulative point system that you as a Manager need
to be made aware of as it could affect your team standings.  For
each Yellow card given in a Presidio League game, one (1) penalty point
will be assessed against the team.  For each Red card given in
a Presidio League game, three (3) penalty points will be assessed against
the team.  For any game where NO Yellow or Red cards are given
to a team, one (1) penalty point shall be subtracted from the accumulated
team total. The first time a team accumulates fifteen (15) penalty points,
the team shall lose two (2) points in the league standings.  The
second time a team accumulates fifteen (15) penalty points, the team
shall lose four (4) points. If a team reaches fifteen penalty points
for a third time in a season, the team shall be suspended from Presidio
League for one (1) year!

Rescheduling Games --   The Rescheduling
process and more detail surrounding this process is available from the
Presidio League's website or you can click here for more information.

Rosters and Game Score Reporting You will need to print three copies of the game roster to bring
to all Presidio League Games. Click here
for more gaming roster instructions. (Tournaments have their own forms
and are explained further down below)  It is these forms that the
Referee uses for recording and submitting game information to the Presidio
League.  At the completion of every game, you will need to input
your scores on the Presidio website. You will need to have an account
as a Team Manager, CLSC will set an account up for you and you will
need to activate the account. This will allow you access to input scores. Click here
for more information on how to activate your account and inputting scores

Score sheet and Game Score Reporting (Tournaments)
-- There are specific requirements regarding each and every tournament
that your team may elect to participate in.  Please refer to the
Tournaments website for more information on what will be required for
each specific tournament.
