Blackhawk single action revolver. This special edition revolver commemorates the 50th
anniversary of the original Ruger Blackhawk.
The Ruger Blackhawk single action in .357 Magnum was our first centerfire revolver and is
the foundation of the legendary Ruger single action family, said Sturm, Ruger President,
Stephen L. Sanetti. Affectionately known as Flat Tops, early Blackhawk models are highly
sought after and difficult to find. The 50th Anniversary New Model Blackhawk offers a unique
opportunity to own a revolver with the look and feel of our original Flat Top design and all the
benefits of 50 years of continuous refinements.*
Like the 1955 Ruger Blackhawk, the 50th Anniversary New Model Blackhawk is chambered in
.357 Magnum with a 4-5/8 barrel. It offers many original features including a blued, mid-size
Flat Top frame with a micro-adjustable rear sight, and a smaller, pre-1962 XR-3 grip frame
with checkered hard rubber grips bearing original-style black Ruger medallions. The distinc-
tive Flat Top frame disappeared from the Ruger product line in 1962 with the introduction of
a new design featuring patented integral frame ribs in the area of the rear sight.
The 50th Anniversary New Model Blackhawk includes a number of important new features
including a new hammer spring to make cocking easier than ever, and a reverse indexing cylin-
der pawl, which positively aligns the cylinder with the loading gate cutout for easier loading
and unloading. The collectible 50th Anniversary New Model Blackhawk features a commemo-
rative gold rollmark, 50th YEAR BLACKHAWK 1955 TO 2005 and comes in a red case
with a commemorative lens label. A booklet describing the history of the Blackhawk revolver
is also included.
The original Blackhawk revolver was named after one of William B. Ruger, Sr.s favorite auto-
mobiles, the Stutz Blackhawk. At the time of its introduction Bill Ruger stated, The special-
