Functional Description The Wegener Model Unity 4650 Digital Media Receiver/Decoder is a fully DVBcompliant satellite video IRD. The U4650 receives an L-band RF carrier from an external LNB (or, if configured as a decoder, accepts ASI transport from a terrestrial source), extracts the MPEG transport stream, and provides the decompressed program content to analog audio/video and (optional) digital audio/video outputs. Features include: ·Control by local user (terminal or front-panel) or remote COMPEL system ·Download of software application upgrades via satellite (with backup application storage) ·Supports COMPEL/CA conditional access at transport level or by program ·Supports receiver card options using either DVB-QPSK and/or Advanced Turbo-Modulations (Turbo-QPSK, T-8PSK, or T-16QAM) ·Supports optional ASI Transport Input card (for decoder-only functioning) ·Supports ISO 13818-1 transport rates from 2.5 to 100 Mbps ·Local decompression of MPEG-2 video (4:2:2P@ML or 4:2:0 MP@ML) ·Auto-recognition and support of 525-line NTSC or 625-line PAL ·Supports 4:3 or 16:9 aspect ratio, including re-scaling of 16:9 down to 4:3 ·Local decompression of two independent audios per MPEG-2 (L1 or L2)\ ·Optional support of SMPTE302 uncompressed audio pass-through ·VBI data supported in extended video window (4:2:2P@ML only) or reinserted by IRD ·Pro Option support: SDI with two stereo channels embedded audio output ·Pro Option support: Genlock with subcarrier phase and H offset adjust ·High-speed IP data routing output ·Alarm relay and user-cueing relays ·Optional front-panel audio and video monitors ·Web browser control (contact factory) Physical Description The U4650 is housed in a standard, 1 RU, rack-mountable chassis. Its front panel (see Figure 1.1) provides a user interface through six push buttons and a 2x20character LCD. It also supports optional front-panel monitors for audio and video. The rear panel holds connectors for input AC power, composite video output, Pro option genlock reference input, Pro option SDI video (w/2 embedded AES3 audio channels), Ethernet port, serial port, alarm and user cue relays, and two analog balanced audio pairs. The unit also includes two Unity expansion option module slots. Figure 1.1 The Unity 4650 Digital Media Receiver/Decoder
