display. It is listed by Underwriters
Laboratories, Inc. and meets the requirements of
their
standard No. 1459 for Telephone Line Interfaces.
Leased Line
The Remote Station (Leased Line) portion of the
Module is designed to transmit Alarm signals from a
protected property to a fire headquarters, central
station, or other similar supervised control center, via
leased telephone lines. It meets the requirements of
NEMA Standards and NFPA Standard No. 72 for
remote station fire alarm systems so that it may be
used with any annunciator designed to these two
standards.
The circuit, which has built-in surge protection, oper-
ates on the polarity reversal principle. Under normal
operating conditions the supervisory or alarm signal
current is held between 3 mA to 9 mA DC. The total
maximum load resistance of the leased line circuit,
including the receiving equipment is 5K ohms.

Municipal Tie
The Municipal Tie portion of the module is designed to
activate a local energy type municipal fire alarm box. It
meets the requirements of NFPA Standard No. 72 for
auxilliary fire alarm systems.
The
module contains solid state circuitry to supply
supervisory and operating power to the municipal fire
alarm box. The circuit is a two-wire closed loop
carrying approximately 1 mA DC of supervisory
current. Upon system operation the current is in-
creased and the polarity is reversed activating the
tripping coil in the municipal fire alarm box, which in
turn, transmits the coded signal to fire headquarters.
Trouble will be indicated from an open or a tripped
municipal
box operating coil when no alarm is present,
or from an open in the municipal tie line.
All troubles in the SLT-1 or its external circuits will be
annunciated by the number 5 on the SXL 7-segment
display.
The SLT-1 has a polling LED which pulses when the
module is operating correctly. If the SLT-1 is not
operating correctly this LED will be off. Engineer and Architect Specification
The fire alarm control panel shall be a Siemens Fire
Safety SXL and SXL-EX , shall utilize conventional
zones, shall be micro-processor based and fully field
programmable. The base panel shall include 4 initiating
zones, relay outputs for general alarm and trouble, and
two power limited notification circuits capable of a
total of 3 Amps of power for notification appliances.
The system shall be expandable to 8 zones via a
model SZE-4R or SZE-4X expansion module which shall
contain an additional 4 conventional zones, 4 general
purpose relay outputs and 4 general purpose open
collector outputs.
Transmission of the alarm signal shall be accomplished
via a Siemens Fire Safety model SLT-1 Leased Line
Module. This module shall communicate on a 4 wire
data loop with the main SXL and SXL-EX .
Or:
Actuation of a local energy type municipal fire alarm
box shall be accomplished via a Siemens Fire Safety
model SLT-1 Municipal Tie Module. This module shall
communicate on a 4 wire data loop with the main SXL
and SXL-EX.
The SLT-1 shall contain a polling LED which will pulse
when the module is operating correctly. The LED shall
be off when the module is not operating correctly. SLT-
1 troubles shall be annunciated as code 5 in the SXL
and SXL-EX seven-segment display.
The SLT-1 is listed by Underwriters Laboratories, Inc.
and meets the requirements of their standard No.
1459 for Telephone Line Interfaces.
