The Amperion Griffin utilizes two BPL modems and up to four WiFi radios to provide a
QoS enabled high-speed hybrid backbone network.
The Amperion solution blends BPL and WiFi on the backbone network with industry
standard Wireless Distribution System (WDS) serving as a redundant link to the BPL.
The Griffin uses the most advanced coupling technology that is patent protected. The
Griffin uses software selectable band pass filters that protect the BPL modem interfaces
from wideband noise and minimize interference to other frequencies outside the
selectable band.
The Griffin is designed for harsh conditions and has been proven throughout North
America, Asia and Europe. With a ruggedized and sealed weatherproof enclosure, the
Griffin works tirelessly in tough environments. The Griffin supports an optional Battery
Backup Unit (to be ordered separately) for continuing operations during power failures.
The Griffin uses priority queues and QoS enabled BPL to ensure that the VoIP calls are of
the highest quality.
The Griffin is architected to allow easy upgrade of hardware and software using
pluggable components. This reduces CapEx costs when upgrading technology. The Griffin
is designed for installation on MV lines. For electric utilities, this means that there are no
recurring right-of-way costs.
The Griffin is easy to manage and provides HTTPS, SNMPv2c, and SSH CLI management.
Amperion also offers the Amperion GroundStation, which is a network management
system designed for the Amperion PowerWiFi solution.
The Amperion Griffin is a carrier class, outdoor PowerWiFi repeater that is an
integral component in the Amperion PowerWiFi hybrid solution. The
PowerWiFi hybrid solution is our unique and robust broadband network
architecture that blends Broadband over Power Line (BPL) and WiFi to provide
cost-effective broadband access and superior end-to-end QoS for Voice, Video
and Data.
