WEEKLY APPARATUS INSPECTIONS Air Brake System Test
Safety Note: Chock Wheels before starting test

1. CHECK AIR COMPRESSOR GOVERNOR CUT-IN & CUT-OUT
C Air compressor cut-in
* At 100 p.s.i. the air compressor should start pumping. Note: No lower than 85 p.s.i.
* With the engine idling, pump the brake to reduce the air tank pressure
O Air compress cut-out
* At approximately 120 p.s.i. the air compressor should stop pumping
* Stop pumping the brakes when the compressor cuts in. Allow the air
compressor to refill.

2. LOW PRESSURE WARNING SIGNAL TEST:
L Low pressure warning
* Warning Signal must come on before 60 p.s.i.
* Shut the engine off when air is about 100 p.s.i. Leave the battery on.
Pump brake pedal until warning signal sound.

3. TEST AIR LEAKAGE RATE:

Lubricate all Zerk Fittings





Clean/Wax all Ground Ladders




Initial





* With a fully charged air system (120 p.s.i.) turn off the engine, release

the service brake (brake off), note air pressure and time the air
pressure drop: No more than 2 p.s.i. loss in one minute.
* Release all brakes and then apply full steady pressure to the brake

pedal (brake on), note air pressure and then hold for one minute.
After the initial pressure drop the air pressure should not fall: No
more than 3 p.s.i. drop in one minute with brake pedal applied.

4. PARKING BRAKE TEST:
* Allow the vehicle to move slowly. Apply the parking brake.
* The vehicle must come to a complete stop.
