Abstracts: Dr. Chengxiong Mao will present his research works
on power system control and power electronics, including energy storage
based on super-capacitor and battery, power electronic transformer,
medium voltage drive, and synchronous generator excitation control.
He will also introduce the research works in the department of Electrical
Engineering and the power system dynamics simulation laboratory at Huazhong
University of Science & Technology (HUST).


Biography: Dr. Chengxiong Mao is a professor and department head of Electrical Engineering in Huazhong
University of Science & Technology (HUST). He received his B.S.,
M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Department of Electrical Engineering, from
HUST, in 1984, 1987 and 1991 respectively. He was a visiting scholar
in University of Calgary, Canada, from Jan. 1989 to Jan. 1990 and in
Queen's University of Belfast, UK, from Dec. 1994 to Dec. 1995 respectively.
He was doing researches in Technische Universitaet Berlin, Germany,
from April 1996 to April 1997 under the support of Humboldt Foundation.
His fields of interest are power system operation and control, the excitation
control of synchronous generator and high power electronic technology.

interested.
