OVERALL PREVIEW

This Research and Development
oriented Treatise is now presented to the World of Electrical Engineering;
introducing the Concept of Twin Machines; deliberating upon the reasons
along with illustrations and explanations
for the Evolution of Twin Rotating Electrical Machines. The Concept
shall open the doors of liberal dimensioning
in the effective Diameters, Core-lengths and Shaft-lengths, as well
as their direct couplings. The unique presentation
encompasses almost all varieties and ratings  of Generators, Motors
and the multiple Frequency Generators & Converters. It also explores
the Step-frequency generation and appropriate utilization; apart from
the schemes of Designing the largest practical Generators and Motors,
where applications may demand.

The Concept of Twin
Machines; envisages positioning of desired number of appropriately dimensioned
Stator-Rotor Units on the common shaft; which would help integration
of pairs of machine units; combining pairs of Disk-Core Stators and
pairs of Disk-Core Rotors, as may be appropriate. Such combined Stator-Rotor
Units would have tremendous influence on Machine Designs and Material
applications. One may revive the ancient Ring Windings of GRAMME,
to use optimum winding Copper conductors by revising end-winding lengths;
as well as explore the Ribbon Steel Core construction to overcome frequency effects in
eddy current losses. This may replace the conventional steel stamping
stacks by machine wound Ribbon steel and appropriate steel pallets welded
on an end-disks for creating  Stator winding slots.

Historically unparalleled,
this is the first attempt of acquainting the readers with the overall
evolution of Novel Twin Rotating Electrical Machines! One opens the
Book and starts acquainting himself with the highlights and attractions
of Twin Machines; supported by a number of simple illustrations. Potentialities
of some possible varieties of Twin Machines have been freely appended
to the Preface; for the enthusiastic reader to try peeping into interesting
individual development criteria enshrined in respective Chapters.

Considering that projecting
the revolutionary concept may need step-by-step understanding; and it
is thought prudent to present it in four volumes: (1). The Concept and
Structural configurations, (2).Twin Generators and Motors, (3). Miscellaneous
Twin
Machines, and (4). Suggestions for R&D and Applications of
Twin
Machines. However, it would be essential for all readers to acquire
all these four volumes, for complete grasp and genuinely benefiting
in practice.

Above all, the
Twin
Machine concept envisages the Design and Development of single
and compact The Universal Rotating Electrical Machine! Which looks promising to demonstrate characteristic performance;
and it may resemble almost all varieties of Rotating Electrical Machines.
Remaining fully conscious of the need to advantageously redesign and
redevelop some of the known varieties of Rotating Electrical Machines;
besides appending each and every Chapter; one hundred number of Investigations and Research Proposals have been offered as

the last Chapter.

There do not appear
as yet, similar Research Treatises, or any specific information on internet
to become available to any readers; on Twin Rotating Electrical Machines
in the World at this stage. This unique Treatise would provide most
of the useful detailed and lucid information to some University and
Institution Research Teams; and to the Electrical Machine Design Engineers
of Worldwide Manufacturers. Because of the availability of huge literature
and experimental data on Electrical Machines; it is sufficient to put
forward relevant information; without construction and testing of a
few experimental models. Let the Twin Rotating Electrical Machines triumph
in the Universe, with new horizons of Technology for the benefit of
our rising generations.

OVERALL SUMMARY

  Now that the
principles and design procedures for most of the Electro-Magnetic Machines
have been thoroughly established; it is the unprecedented opportunity
for developing the Concept
of  Twin Electrical Machines, explore all the known directions
of evolving an entirely new avenue of Rotating Electrical Machines.
Although it appears that almost all varieties of known Electrical Machines
could be reviewed; this Treatise has attempted to reorient towards only
a few varieties, in order to lucidly explain and extend the concept
of Twin Machines with the help of several illustrations for common readers
to consciously grasp and digest them.

    Opening with certain illustrations and highlights,
some of the possible varieties of Twin Machines have been appended to
the Preface. Structural configurations and potentialities of Disk-Core
Twin
Machines have been appended to the first two chapters. After appending
the salient features of Twin Machines to the third Chapter; most of
the obvious inconveniences of considering the development of Twin-Cylindrical
Machines have been outlined extensively in the next Appendix.

Discussing the structural
flexibility of Disk-Core Twin Machines; the concept has been applied
to the evolution of Twin Synchronous Generators and Motors, and further
extended to wound-Rotor and squirrel-cage Induction Motors. Remarkably
unique and truly unprecedented, it will be these Developments of Twin
Motor Surface Load Drives, nicknamed as DREAM MOTORS!

The feasibility of accommodating
desired number of Disk-Core Stator-Rotor units on the common shaft;
would lead to the development of Multi-frequency and Step-frequency
generation and utilization of Electric Power. Such a multi-core Stator-Rotor
arrangement on a common shaft would enable us to extend the concept
to
