FACT:
Lamps and ballasts
contain mercury, lead, PCBs,
and DEHP, all of which are
considered toxic and
hazardous to human health
and the environment.
FACT:
The mercury in just one fluorescent lamp is enough to
contaminate over 7,000 gallons of drinking water.
FACT:
The Federal Government and all 50 states have enacted
rules and regulations to manage recycling. Failure to comply with
these regulations puts you and your company at risk.
SOLUTION:
Use a certified recycling company to manage spent
lighting
materials, minimizing risk and ensuring compliance!
We all should do our part to protect the environment, but as a
generator of toxic and hazardous materials, you are financially
responsible for the proper management, recycling, and disposal
of these materialsand for cleaning up the effects of any improper
disposal.
Under the Universal Waste Rule (UWR), most states have adopted
Federal standards as their state regulations, and a number of
states have adopted even more stringent standards. By properly
recycling lamps and other mercury waste, you can protect your
company from costly legal and financial liability for future
hazardous waste cleanups.
WESCO Recycling Solutions are offered through our partnership
with ONYX, the nations largest recycler of lighting and electronic
waste. Through our partnership, WESCO can not only help you
to meet Federal, state, and local hazardous waste requirements,

Why WESCO?
Option #2:
Bulk Recycling
Bulk recycling is the best solution when
you need to dispose of large quantities
of spent lighting material. This is
typically used in conjunction with large
lighting upgrade projects. Unlike the
OnyxPak program, this is not a prepaid
solution. Packaging, freight, and
processing costs are billed separately,
based on the actual quantities of items
recycled. Typically an Onyx truck will
pick up these materials as part of a
standard route. Contact your WESCO
Sales Representative for a quotation or
to coordinate your bulk recycling needs.
Reasons to choose WESCO for your
recycling needs: WESCO provides solutions to meet all
of your lighting needs. ONYX maintains an excellent record of
compliance with regulations governing
health and safety and the environment. ONYX is part of Veolia Environment,
which is the largest environmental
services company in the world and has
significant liability protection.
WESCO and Onyx can also help you
recycle the following materials: Batteries (Commercial, Industrial,
and Household) Electronics & Computer Equipment
(i.e., PCs, CRTs) Electrical Equipment (i.e.,
Transformers, Capacitors, Circuit
Breakers, Switches and Bushings,
