LBC and LSC boiler and system controls: the next generation
With the series launch of the PLC-based
and
in 2001, LOOS revolutionised
the operating and function philosophy of steam and hot
water boiler systems. Its foolproof operation, simple
integration into higher-level control systems and high
level of data transparency have made it a resounding
success in the market, with more than 2,000 systems
installed so far.
The second development phase of this intelligent boiler
system control is now just coming up to its market
launch. To make operating the boiler systems even easier,
touch-sensitive screens with graphic user interface will
be used in the future. The computer unit and
operating/display unit will now be assembled separately.
The modern touch-screen display will be offered to
customers in different sizes. The user interface, which
has been designed according to the latest scientific
developments in terms of ergonomics and usability
allows the user to select from a wide range of functions
using commonly used symbols and graphics. The start-
up and shut-down of boiler systems, changing the
regulating parameters, control of multi-boiler systems
boiler operation has never been simpler.
The prewarning system forming part of the operating
and fault alarm management was already an integral part
of the first generation of LBC/LSC. The massive
memory capacity provided by the new control devices
now allows users to go back to operating messages that
date back much further. A high level of data
transparency is also achieved by the constant logging of
all important process data. One brief touch is enough to
generate graphs full of useful information on screen.

Modern bus technology facilitates communication
between control modules and data exchange with
higher-level systems.
The possibility of using the LOOS
facility
was already provided by the 1st generation of these
devices, but even more precise analyses and
optimisations are now possible because of the longer
data logging times. In addition, data can be exported to
the customer service engineer's notebook.
The new generation of LOOS boiler management
systems will be presented to the public for the first time
at the ISH exhibition in Frankfurt, Hall 8.0, Stand B31.
In the second half of 2007, they will be available as
series fittings for all LOOS shell boiler systems.
