Grade Level Teaming
Teaming is a common group of teachers, teaching a
common group of students, during common instructional
time. The purpose for having teams is so that the
teachers better meet the needs of their students and
parents.
At each grade level, core teachers are divided into teams.
You will be assigned to one team for your core subjects
(language arts, social studies, science and math).
Each team of teachers meets together daily. This allows
them time to communicate more effectively with each
other, allowing them to better meet the needs of the
students on that team. Communication with home also
improves with the teaming concept. Parents can share
information with one teaching team mem ber, and ask that
teacher to share with the team.
As a rule, cross teaming of classes is not allowed.
Students are randomly assigned to teams, with attention
being given to a balance of ethnicity and sex. Requests
for placement on a particular team must be submitted
in writing by May 1. The request must include
reasons or special circumstances supporting the
request.
All students will be given a class schedule indicating
courses, teachers, and room assignments. All schedule
changes are handled through the counselor or the
principal. Classes will be scheduled on the basis of an
eight period day, but core class time periods may be
flexed as needed by teaching teams.
Parent-Teacher Conferences
Ref. School Board Policy 505.2
The conference schedule for the 2006 -07 school year is:
Fall Conferences
November 5
th
2:00-8:00
November 8
th
2:00-8:00
Spring Conferences
February 11
th
2:00-8:00
February 14
th
2:00-8:00
It is important that all parents and students take
advantage of this time to share with teachers. Students
are encouraged to help lead their conference, by
attending with their parent or guardian and helping their
teachers share information about their class work.
Some teams have student-lead conferences, which
require a student to be in attendance to direct
conferences. The team of teachers will contact the
parents to notify them of student-lead conferences.
Progress Reports:
Ref. School Board Policy 505.2
The middle school year is divided into four quarters.
Grades are issued at the end of each quarter. Midterm
reports will be issued at the midpoint of each quarter for
all students. Report cards are issued every nine 9 weeks
so that your parents/guardians may be informed of the
quality of your schoolwork.
Please check the weekly newsletter and/or Channel 12
for the dates to expect your child to bring grades home.
Mid-term reports and report cards are sent home with
students. The end of the year report card is mailed.
Honor Roll:
Students demonstrating academic achievement or
improvement are recognized quarterly on the IMS Honor
Roll. A students quarterly grade point average qualifies
them for an academic award. (Gold 4.0, Silver 3.5-
3.99, Bronze 3.0 3.49). Students showing
improvement from the previous quarter are awarded an
On A Roll certificate. (.5 GPA increase)

Important Information
Late Work Policy:
Homework is a necessary part of the educational
program. In order for students to be prepared for the
next days class, homework needs to be completed on
time.

All work must be completed. Not completing an
assignment is not an option.
2. A minimum of 15% will be deducted for any late
