Quick Start
A Quick Start guide
Follow these instructions to get your switch operating quickly:
1
Position your switch on a desk or mount it in a rack.
2
Connect network devices to the ber ports (1 through 8) on your switch.
Use 62.5/125
µ
m or 50/125
µ
m multimode ber cables with SC connec-
tors.
The total attenuation in the link, including connectors and patch bers,
must not exceed 11dB. For 62.5/125
µ
m ber this means, in most cases,
the length of a full-duplex link cannot exceed 2000 meters (approximately
6500 feet).
3
Connect network devices to ports 9 and 10 using UTP cables Category 3
UTP cables as a minimum for speeds of 10Mbps and Category 5 for speeds
of 100Mbps.
4
There is no power button on the switch. Connect the power cable to the
main electric supply and the other end to the switch to power on.
You do not need to change any voltage settings in the switchit detects
the voltage of the main power automatically.
5
Verify that the Power LED on the front panel of the switch is green.
Note
If it is not green, check that the power outlet is working correctly
(switch on). If the power outlet is lit, and the Power LED is not
working, then there is a fault within the switch. Disconnect all
cables from the switch and contact your dealer immediately.
