OTHER ACCOMPLISHMENTS 6/25/07 - OCI reviewed an agenda item prepared by DHS for the modification of BBC-
GOB Project Nos. 215 and 216 which include demolition and reconstruction of the
Wynwood Neighborhood Service Center (GOB Project No. 215) and land acquisition
and construction of a new Allapattah Neighborhood Service Center (GOB Project No.
216). This modification will revise the projects scopes and descriptions by combining the $7.5 million allocated for each service center thereby eliminating the need to
construct two public service outreach facilities serving Commission District 3. This
modification will result in 1) the cancellation of Project No. 216 (Allapattah) and; 2) the
combination of the BBC-GOB allocations for Project Nos. 215 and 216, for a total of
$15 million, to construct a comprehensive social services facility at the current
Wynwood Neighborhood Service Center site (Project No. 215). This item will be
presented to the BBC-GOB CAC at their next meeting on July 9
th
, 2007. 6/26/07- OCI reviewed an agenda item prepared by GSA for a significant modification
to Building Better Communities Bond Program Project No. 142 Baywalk Bike Path.
This item was transmitted to the County Attorneys Office for review. This item will be
presented to the BBC-GOB CAC at their next meeting on July 9
th
, 2007 if the funding
can be identified. GSA approved the purchase order for the purchase of replacement emergency
generators at various district police stations (BBC-GOB Project No. 203). OCI worked with representatives of UM/JMH to finalize the agenda item requesting a
significant modification to the project description for BBC-GOB Project No. 212 -
University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital (UM/JMH) Center of Excellence for the
Diagnosis of Communication Disorders. This modification will revise the project
description by eliminating the requirement for a funding match from the hospital. The
proposed new language is to provide $5,000,000 for the acquisition, construction or
rehabilitation of a new approximately 20,000 square foot UM/JMH Center of
Excellence for the Diagnosis of Communication Disorders. The balance of the
projects estimated cost of $25 million will come from other non-GOB funding sources. GSA met with the Courts to initiate the advertising process for BBC-GOB Project No.
231 - Construct Additional Parking and Provide Facility Improvements at The Caleb
Center and BBC-GOB Project No. 180 - Additional Courtrooms and Administration
Facilities.
